Personal Narrative: Servant Leadership

As a Veteran myself I actually embody this type of leadership approach Servant Leadership is the “team” approach. I wouldn’t ask anyone of my subordinates to do anything I wouldn’t do myself, no matter what service or section we are in we all have the same mission and that’s to help fellow Veterans in need. I receive my care at the VA and I’ve served in six (6) services from Telephone Operator to Administrative Officer so I have a full 360 degree view and assessment from Veteran receiving services to employee serving Veterans I think that gives me a unique insight to our operations. I emphasize streamlining workflow processes, and implementing the e-government initiatives, here is an example of that mindset.

This is in addition to improving conditions of a procedural nature, which relate to the efficiency of the organization. I recently spearheaded the services transition to the E-file system. We reorganized the current paper file system and storage unit by going through the services competency files and purging old and out dated materials in preparation for the scanning project we completed in April 2017. We have established SOP’s and protocols for file maintenance and viewing (making them CARF compliant for future site visits). We transitioned approximately 150 paper files to electronic files. Essentially this will put any given competency file at the fingertips of anyone authorized to view/manipulate it, this will also save the service money, time, and resources, by transitioning the files to a faster and more efficient file source and make
