Personal Narrative: Self Assessment

The seven self-assessment quizzes I took were sustainable marriage, parenting style, relationship connectedness, how strong is your relationship, domestic violence, love, lust or a loser, and energy vampires. I was shocked and perplexed with the results of the sustainable marriage, relationship connectedness, and how strong is your relationship. The scores on the sustainable marriage and relationship connectedness were a little low however, I scored very high on how strong is your relationship. Not meaning I do not care about what goes on in their lives, I have rules and they will be followed or there will be consequences. Even though I knew there has never been an issue with domestic violence in my house, it was great to have the reassurance it was highly unlikely to ever occur. Self-esteem issues identified in the energy vampires’ assessment have been a major part of my life as this was identified as to why I behaved as a young child throughout today. Although my life has been better than expected I still feel as if important people in my life look down at me, which in turn does make it difficult to put up with me. The findings have shown me there are some things I need to work on to build a stronger marriage and be more connected with my wife. I do not want to be a couple people read about that have been together for 20 years and as soon as their kids move out of the house the parents realize there is little to no lust or common ground between the two. Even though there is a strong bond between the two of us a relationship can go stagnant very quickly without either of us recognizing it until it is too late. Parenting is not something I am willing to

"Love is blind. " All of us have heard this phrase and many of us will even agree to it. This proverb can have many meanings; it all depends on how you interpret it. Throughout my paper this phrase has two different meanings; it could mean love is blind in a relationship or that love is blind as far as self-love. In our lives we all fall in love one day or another.…

Can a person’s self-image be affected by their partner’s negative perception of them? Researchers believe that the opinion of others can greatly affect the individual’s own self-concept. A study done by Maestas, Amidon, Baum and Durham (2008) focused on the believe that couples who have been living together are less likely to leave when the relationship gets hard. They also believe that the degrading dialogue from the male partners can negatively impact the woman living in the home. Out of all the lessons I’ve learned there is one thing that always stays with me: Don’t drive when you’re upset. Coming from a family with three older siblings, all four of us were taught this same rule. When my dad taught me this lesson, I was learning to drive at the age of seventeen.…

When I first began, I was very nervous. Nervous at both the dim prospects of my grade, and of my writing skills. In previous classes, my writing would often come back to me attached to a rubric marked with notes like “Needs improvement”, “Unclear”, or one of my personal favorites “Have you though about taking an english class?”. For most of my academic life, I always wondered if one day I would become a good writer, and for some time I thought that day would never come. That is, until I began English 131.…

Connecting the Dots Relative to space and time of the universe, every individual seems so negligible and evanescent, just like a tiny wave in the ocean; yet each life is so rich and unique that it is impossible for one to trace down every detail of another person’s life. Two people can look almost identical to each other, but even twins are no way the same: a slight change would alter all the patterns of a person’s life, an ever-shifting kaleidoscope. My background has made me a very distinctive person, but when I reflect, the decisive influence on my life is the choice that I made in high school. One of my most notable characteristics is that I am really ambitious.…
