“Mama!” Says little Kinsin Mathews. Her mother is sewing a blanket for her and Kinsin is doing a craft. She needs to borrow the scissors. “Mama scissors!”
“Ok sweetheart,” Lee Mathews says to her 4-year-old. As the little girl grabs the scissors she trips over a stuffed animal and the scissor blades jam into an electrical socket. The last thing the girl remembers is seeing a blue spark and feeling energy charge through her. 9 years later
That night when little Kinsin was crafting her DNA had been changed, and it gave her the power to control atoms. Some sort of special energy had converted into her blood flow and now she has powers. Now she also has to take serious precautions. Whenever the 7th graders pick on her for being a nerd she

I must fight as Atomic charge now, not as Kinsin Mathews. I don’t have time to think about that right now. Nuclear turns to face me and shot a ray of plutonium straight towards my heart. I immediately create a barrier out of the rocks in the landscaping so that the beam wouldn’t hit me. I began to think back on what my science teacher said about plutonium… it solidifies when it gets really hot. Well, how am I going to make Nuclear hot? Fire, I have to start a fire, Nuclear has plutonium in his blood so if the fire gets close to him he will become frozen. Just as the thought hits me the wall of rocks crumbles because my thoughts are no longer on it. Nuclear takes the opportunity to shoot a ray at me again and it hits my arm, it burns oh it burns! I will not give up, I look around for something possibly hot, and then I see it, one match rolling along the ground. I can’t grab it because Nuclear will notice unless he’s focused on something else… There is a large rock in the landscaping I force it to spin directly towards Nuclear and I grab the match. I light it and throw it towards him, and then everything gets

During the 1950’s as the world’s scientist and superpowers worked feverishly to harness the power of nuclear fusion. People looked on in awe from Las Vegas hotels at the bright flash and resulting mushroom cloud signaling progress towards solving the world’s energy needs. Like the beautifully mesmerizing feathers of a peacock each test also demonstrated to the world the sheer power and might of the nation responsible for the explosion; the nuclear age had arrived amid excitement and the promise of a better life for all. While the rest of the world basked in the possibilities created by this advance in science, one nation remained immune to atomic fever. On March 14, 1954 the return of the unremarkable tuna trawler, Lucky Dragon…

Nuclear energy is the energy released during nuclear fission or fusion. Nuclear fission is a nuclear reaction in which a heavy nucleus splits spontaneously or on impact with another particle, with the release of energy. Nuclear fusion on the contrary is the exact opposite; it gathers energy from the heavy nucleus combining with the shot particle. These two combined produce a lot of energy that is used all over the world on a daily basis. Nuclear power has proved to serve a huge part of our society today.…

Varric doesn’t mention this in his book, but: Hawke hates fire magic. Bethany had loved it, loved trailing sparks between her fingers, loved cupping her hands together and pretending there were glowbugs inside, never mind that the light was too orange for the things. She’d been afraid of the dark. She always had been. That was why their father had taught Bethy fire first, so that she’d never have to be alone in the dark.…

The norm may not always be the right way to go. I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…

The strongest dispute towards nuclear weapons are their side effects on mankind. In an effective exchange of nuclear weapons on various targets, the likelihood of civilian casualties would be extremely high. Despite the logical intentions of wiping out a tactical and military target. Additionally, the immediate effects of a nuclear weapon are quite apparent, extreme heat and blast wave propagation measured in kilometers and miles, depending on the yield of the warhead. Secondary effects of a nuclear explosion include massive amounts of radiation being emitted to the surrounding area.…

Already, German scientists had discovered the technique of splitting uranium atoms – called nuclear fission – by the bombardment of these atoms using neutrons, splitting them apart into rare isotopes, the most important of which, and the one that would help produce nuclear energy being U-235. This extremely rare substance and another, the newly found element plutonium (also capable of massive nuclear reactions) were to be the foundations upon which nuclear energy…

The day started off early, with a crisp breeze touching my pure, uncovered skin. I detected a hint of warmth that wisped around and hugged me tightly as the sun twirled higher into the cloudless sky. I was meeting up with a couple of friends to explore the seaside. Meredith, Ashley and I were so thrilled to finally go on one last enormous adventure together. We were in the spring break of our senior year and were all heading straight to our colleges when summer started to settle into our new homes.…
