Saving the black footed ferret
It was almost 8 am and John I were getting ready for our trip to Grass lands National Park. John is one of my best friends we both graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree on wild life. In the excitement of our trip we couldn’t sleep all night and now we were running late Due to getting up late. I was really excited because I had been studying the black footed ferret for a years now. And I was getting the chance to see it in person now for the first time. When we got on the plane john asked “ why are you so excited about seeing some ferret there is so much other wild life to see” then I explained that they are almost extinct they may not be around

As the prairie dog got close to the ferret not knowing that the ferret was in its path the ferret took its stance. And furiously ran and got the rodent by its neck. The prairie dog put up quite a fight before the ferret dragged it into the burrow of the prairie dog and got it by its neck and killed it. These ferrets will hunt the prairie dog in their own burrows and take shelter in the burrows of the prairie dogs. They were a lot different than the other animals I had researched and worked with. We waited until the ferret was done feasting on the prairie dog we wanted to capture it so we could do some further research on it. We set up a trap so when the ferret came out it would get stuck in the net and we could hold on to it and see it. After we had caught the animal we made Shure to mark the spot so we would put it back right where we got it from. After looking at the Black footed ferret we measured it from head to toe and this was one was 16 inches tall and 5 inches wide. On average they range from 15-20 inches in length and they can be 4.25 to 5 inches in diameter. An average life span of these animals can be about 12 years. We put a bright red color on it

One of my favorite animals is a fennec fox. Fennec fox are very extraordinary, they have very huge ears that help them to hear and with there body temperature. Beautifully the fennec fox has awesome sandy colored fur, which helps them not to be seen by predators at during the day. Having been very active at night, the fennec fox walks and moves mostly in the cooler night, where they are much safer than during the day. Around, under and above, the fennec fox predadores search for them, even though the fennec fox has advantages.…

They poisoned the prairie dogs and destroyed their natural habitats to make more room for farming, causing the decline of not only the prairie dog population, but also the black-footed ferret because the ferrets depend on the prairie dogs as a source of food. The carrying capacity for ferrets decreased. In 1981, a small population of ferrets were discovered in Wyoming, so scientists quickly took action to begin conservation. Not soon after, a wave of disease reduced the population of ferrets even more. Scientists bred the ferrets until there were enough to release back into the wild.…

The temperature gauge read a bone chilling 5 degrees, and i knew that it was only going to get worse as the day came to an end. In mid October early in the morning the day was crisp and chill. The sun was just burning the morning fog off of the lakes cool waters. The dew on the grass and trees was glistening from the sunlight and the bird were singing their songs of jubilee . The entire woods were peaceful and still, and the sunrise was magnificent. During this moment I realized how beautiful nature is when the outside world is a distant memory, and all we need to do is take advantage of the little things life gives us and never stress the big ones too much.…

It is until you hear accounts of someone else’s life and the struggles that they had to go through to realize that it is not that appalling after all. Back when my mother was growing up, my Mawmaw was left alone with my Mother; her boyfriend left her for another women and left Mawmaw to fend for herself. Many times she had to work numerous jobs just to support my Mother and her. It was very tough, as they had nowhere to live and nobody would help them out.…
