It was almost 8 am and John I were getting ready for our trip to Grass lands National Park. John is one of my best friends we both graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree on wild life. In the excitement of our trip we couldn’t sleep all night and now we were running late Due to getting up late. I was really excited because I had been studying the black footed ferret for a years now. And I was getting the chance to see it in person now for the first time. As the prairie dog got close to the ferret not knowing that the ferret was in its path the ferret took its stance. And furiously ran and got the rodent by its neck. The prairie dog put up quite a fight before the ferret dragged it into the burrow of the prairie dog and got it by its neck and killed it. These ferrets will hunt the prairie dog in their own burrows and take shelter in the burrows of the prairie dogs. They were a lot different than the other animals I had researched and worked with. We waited until the ferret was done feasting on the prairie dog we wanted to capture it so we could do some further research on it. We set up a trap so when the ferret came out it would get stuck in the net and we could hold on to it and see it. After we had caught the animal we made Shure to mark the spot so we would put it back right where we got it from. After looking at the Black footed ferret we measured it from head to toe and this was one was 16 inches tall and 5 inches wide. On average they range from 15-20 inches in length and they can be 4.25 to 5 inches in diameter. An average life span of these animals can be about 12 years. We put a bright red color on it
