Hi Amy! I think it’s important to remember that when adults pass along information that it is as true as they know it to be. There are few pieces of knowledge that parents pass along knowing it to be untrue. These things are typically ideals like Santa and the Tooth Fairy. However, this misinformation I believe is a parent’s attempt to maintain their child’s sense of wonder and innocence of the world. Because parents know and realize what the world is truly like for better or worse.
