Personal Narrative: Saint Andrew As My Confirmation Bishop

Improved Essays
I am choosing Saint Andrew as my Confirmation Saint. I have selected Saint Andrew because he seems interesting because he is the first apostle and said yes to Jesus right from the beginning. He is the patron of fisherman. Fishing is something that I do a lot with my dad. We throw the poles in the car and pick up worms and scout out a spot to fish. Saint Andrew and his brother Simon were fishermen. They were doing it as their job, but I’m sure they enjoyed it as my dad and I do. Saint Andrew seems like a perfect Confirmation Saint for me because of his relation to fishing.
Saint Andrew was born in the early first century. His feast day is November 30 and is the patron of fisherman. He had one brother, Simon Peter, and never married (The Twelve

My chosen saint for confirmation is St. Sebastian. Saint Sebastian would be the patron saint for whom watches over active athletes, as well as the patron saint of archers. The reason that he was chosen for my confirmation, would be because I am an athlete and I play softball. With all the dangers that could come from the game of softball, it is great that we athletes are constantly being watched over by him. Sebastian was born in Narbonne, Gaul, part of modern France.…

My passion to be a teacher in the Catholic school system has started a long time ago when I decided the teaching profession was for me. I was just coming out of my Catholic high school and I had made a decision to take a Bachelor of Health Science Degree, in physical education and biology with the end goal to become a high school teacher. It was during this time when I noticed myself asking for help a lot and depending on God’s plan to determine my success. " Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.…

The site that I visited was Mercy Hill Church in Greensboro, NC. I went to a sermon, with some friends, that took place on a Sunday night. When we arrived at the church, we stayed together and observed the site. The members of this church all seemed to be within their twenties and thirties; there were a few younger children and a few older women and men, but not many. Most of these people seemed to be from Christian ethnic backgrounds or just unaffiliated with any ethnicity.…

The saint whose name I have chosen for my conformation name is that of Saint Genesius of Rome. Saint Genesius was an actor in a traveling troupe that went around Rome. It was in these plays that he and his fellow actors would mock the Christian faith. Emperor Diocletain of Rome was in attendence one night, when Saint Genesius was performing a skit that made fun of baptism. Saint Genesius played the character being baptized, and at the moment his character was baptized, Saint Genesius saw a vision of angels coming down upon him with a large book filled with all of his sins.…

This summer, my dad, older sister, and I flew to South Carolina for debate nationals. Since we had a few days before the tournament, we decided to do a little sightseeing. On Sunday, we visited two churches in Atlanta, Georgia. We first went to the Ebenezer Baptist Church, which is a church housed inside the “real” church that Martin Luther King Jr. had served in. The service was very lively, consisting of clapping, singing, and dancing.…

I had similar experience, which was explained in No.1, on the edge of entering. I was church shopping when I came to the USA 20 years ago. I went to almost every church in the town. I didn’t feel welcomed, most churches wanted to convert me to Christianity in spite of telling them I am a Christian. For most of them since I am from India I am a Hindu and I need to be converted to Christianity.…

My personal narrative essay is about my transfer from Bible Baptist to Savannah Christian and my feelings towards the process of transferring and the first day at Savannah Christian. Overall the transfer was better than I presumed it would be because I sustained a better education than I did at Bible Baptist. The transfer taught me that sometimes change is for the greater good. If I had the ability to go back in time and tell my future self-something about this situation it would be not to be nervous just breathe. Finding out I was going to a new school could be compared to when I found out my first fish had died, heartbreaking.…

On October 30th, 2016 I attended Redeemer Lutheran church. I arrived there ten minutes early and picked a pew towards the back and started to take notes. The mass started around eight o’clock am and lasted approximately an hour. The service itself was similar to a Roman Catholic mass that I am use to. I was surprised that they were so similar because my thought process was since they are completely different religions than they must have completely different mass styles.…

In my ethnographic trip I headed to a Non-Denomination Hispanic Christian Church. They hold services every weekend so I specifically chose Sunday night to hear their message. I chose this church because I have a grandmother who attends here and I felt comfortable to have someone I knew guide me. My initial thoughts prior to visiting this church was the same as the other churches I had visited before. I expected to walk in and sit down with no one really paying much attention to me.…

On March 18, 2012, an unlikely group of men gathered at 3:30 am in the Mormon town of Huntsville, Utah. They were Catholic Monks of the Order of Cicstercians of the Strict Observance (Trappists) performing a routine most of them have been doing for more than 60 years; rising in the middle of the night to attend Vigils and to pray together by chanting Psalms and doing the readings of the Divine Office. That night, an even more improbable person participated in the Liturgy of the Hours—a convinced atheist. I was that unbeliever. I felt completely at home, as I had participated in the same routine more than 30 years earlier when I had joined the Dominican Order as a young man beginning studies for the priesthood.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…

During my childhood and lower teens, I was very involved in church. I would go to every event or meeting put on by our church. Watching certain senior youth members, I didn’t understand why they would just come to the fun events. I would only see them during our mission trips or camps, but never at business or regular meetings. Then I promised myself that I would always stay as active as I could.…
