I was shaking in the front seat of my moms car. The clock shined a bright 7:53 in my
The Man In Black eyes. 7:53, that was only seven minutes away from the bell ringing announcing that first hour had begun. I had never been late to class in my life and I definitely didn't want today to be day one.

As we pulled into the school drop off zone I plunged myself out of the car, yelled bye to my mom, and sprinted into the doors of the middle school. I had to run down a long hallway to reach my locker and when I got there I messed up my combination twice because I felt so rushed. My white wristwatch read 7:58, two more minutes. I tossed my backpack in and grabbed all of my first hour stuff. Right after the loud bang of me slamming my

Fear filling my body from head to toe I shove open the door ready to face whatever is on the other side. Right away I'm filled with shock. "Julia?" I blurt out with a puzzled expression, "What are you doing here?" "Anna!" she gasps putting down the clarinet she was blowing into, "What are you doing here?" "I got to school late and nobody was here, I could hear the clarinet from down the hallway and I wanted to know who was down here," I explain. "So where is everyone?" "I have no clue, when I got here I wandered to the band room because I left my sweatshirt in here yesterday. I went to the door to leave but it was locked, when I turned around there was a man dressed in all black gazing at me from across the room, he told me he'd come back when there were more, I have no idea what that means." Julia says in a light voice.

"Wait, you got locked in?" I ask with a face of shock. "Yes." Julia sizzles. I face the door and pull, unfortunately I'm locked in now as well. "Now what?" I half

We could climb that ladder over there, unfortunately we are both afraid of heights." "Don't they always say to face your fears?" I mumble. "True, on three run to ladder and start climbing, one, two, three!" We run as fast as lighting to reach the ladder. Julia and I start to climb up but we were too late, the man snatched my foot with his cold, bony hand and he whispered, "You're coming with me." His voice was hoarse and deep.

I let out a high pitch screech as his grip on my ankle tightened each time I tried to pull away. Out of the corner of my eye I watch Julia fly down from the ladder.

"No take me instead!" She demands to the guy. "How about I take you both!" As he says both he grabs both of our wrists and yanks me down from off the ladder. He walks us over to a large storage closet, opens, the door, and tosses us inside. "Hope you had a nice life." He cackles. Bang! The door slams shut and he finishes of the job with a loud click of the door locking trapping Julia and I inside.

I'm not quite sure what happened next because the next thing I know I'm laying down in my bed back at

When I read this part of Baca’s story, I immediately thought of a time when I was unsure of what I was seeing. My father and I were going on a road trip when I was 15. He finished his shift at work around 10pm, and we had 6 hours of driving ahead of us. He asked me to stay awake to keep him company, so I drank one of those small bottles of caffeine that used to be around before 5 Hour Energy hit the market. We drove through the wasteland of Nevada where few cars pass and there are no towns for sometimes a hundred miles or more.…

“When I had journeyed half of our life’s way, I found myself within a shadowed forest, for I had lost the path that does not stray” (Inferno 3). Actually, this does not describe my death, but comes from a dusty old book I read at one point. I died on April 10th, 2018, on my 21st birthday, in the strange city of Boston. During that fateful night, my friend Erin Valley and I were walking down Commonwealth Avenue, returning home from the seventh bar of the night, reveling in our ability to legally drink.…

She'd come a long way since her childhood and Nebraska, sometimes she wondered what her grandpa would think of the Isabella Viore she grew into. Part of her thought he'd be in disbelief that people follow her with cameras and her face was so well-known, but a better part of her knew he always expected her to do great things. Getting the back of her hand kissed as fans looked on just felt so...frivolous for what grandpa would've expected out of her that her smile drooped for a second.…
