Personal Narrative: Sacrifice For The Other

Improved Essays
Sacrifice for the Other I got a headache from having too much predicaments, whether I should stay or leave for the sake of time. Somehow, one always felt heavier than the other. It was probably one of the hardest decisions I had to make in my life. I did it, but it just didn’t feel right. It was a situation between leaving temple or lion dance for the sake of having a free weekend. My parents wanted me to quit lion dancing so that I can practice more on my driving and study for my SATs and ACTs. I was very sad because lion dancing was one of my favorite sports to do with family and friends. Ever since then, I was skipping a lot of practices for driving. This had an impact on me and the whole team because we were lacking teamwork and unity. Without one member, there would be no team. I didn’t want to give up something I loved to do, but …show more content…
This had an impact on me a lot because I have been in temple for about 5 years and it made me feel like I was part of a family. I was so closed to my temple friends, that everywhere I go, I would always think of them. I have had the best memories and experiences there than I have ever had with other temples I have been to. There were memories of bonding and loving each other even through hard situations. We were always there for each other. I feel like if I left temple, I wouldn’t have anyone who would be there for me if I fall down. There wouldn’t be hands for me to help me up. It was very hard, but I had to do it. I know that I can’t be there for them forever and eventually we would have to separate from each other, so I decided to visit them once again before I leave. Their hugs felt so warm and friendly as they said their goodbyes. I had photographic memory of everyone there from youngest to oldest, shortest to tallest. I will never forget those smiles on their

I am known for the "American System" and known as the "Great Compromiser," however I have accomplished and been through so much more than that. Born in 1777 in Hanover County, Virginia, I was exposed to American history since I was young. In 1797, I moved to Kentucky along with many others wanting to pursue careers in law and politics. My political career began in 1803 when I was elected to the Kentucky General Assembly then appointed to the U.S. Senate in 1806. I was Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams.…

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

When I was young, my sister and I never got along well. Neither of us were afraid to voice our thoughts, but we had opposite personalities, so that was an enormous complication. She would constantly whine whenever I practice the violin or piano that I was too loud and it was drowning out the music she was listening to. In return, I would always retort that her music was too loud and distracting. Well, I never actually called it “her music”: I referred to it as “garbage”.…

This past summer, I had the opportunity to go zip lining for the very first time. I, as with anyone with a slight concern for dangerous heights, wasn’t too keen on dangling hundreds of feet off the ground, and was extremely anxious. Just before I was about to step off the edge, I remember my friends encouraging me, “Don’t worry, Marina! It’s as easy as riding a bike.” In some cases, riding a bicycle isn’t as easy as you would expect.…

At approximately 1234 hours on Friday, August 21, 2025, I stopped a blue 2010 Toyota on MO-350 Eastbound 0.1 mile west of the intersection of Westchester Road in Raytown, Missouri. I initiated the emergency lights on my patrol car as a signal to stop the vehicle after I noticed that the vehicle only had one license plate. The car started to stop slowly until it came to a complete stop. I then parked my car about 7ft behind the vehicle. I got out of my patrol car and started making my way towards the vehicle.…

I’ve witnessed many things, but nothing like what I saw on March 14, 1964. Genovese was gruesomely killed in our own neighborhood! Not sure on what to feel, I turned my head. “I am dying,” I heard her yell, I turned and looked out my window to find her bleeding-trying to get away from an armed male. The assailant then looks up and sees me, I became afraid.…

THE INCIDENT It began as an ordinary Sunday morning, though it was indeed a special occasion to be savored. My husband Tom and I would go to church for Sunday school, attend worship service, and then gather with our friends in the church fellowship hall for lunch. A dedication later would unveil a very large window to exhibit the work of a small group of dedicated people who had participated in a stained-glass class.…

During my childhood, there was always one woman that captivated me; the way she could fix a car in minutes, how she could calm down my mother with a few soft words and touches, the way she seemed to know the answer to questions that didn’t have an answer. “How many stars are in the sky?” I asked her once, after learning the vastness of the universe. I knew I’d get her this time. We were sitting outside, gazing up at the sky, which was the clearest I’d ever seen it.…

Expecting Hannah’s team to appear racing down the finish line, I paid little consideration to anything except the fascinatingly diverse range of conversation around me. To my right, our coach was talking to a visitor, demonstrating something that apparently confused her. Behind me, a few friends were commandeering a barbeque, and to my left, away from the bay, one of my teammates was conversing with a friend about school. After about forty-five minutes of watching and listening to the activities taking place around me, I finally decided that I was disinterested.…
