Personal Narrative: Runescape

After looking at how much I noticed quite a few patterns. This biggest and most noticeable pattern was the amount of time that I play Runescape. A lot of my spare time is taken up by that game, probably because its my favourite game to play. Another thing I noticed was how my technology usage on a weekend where I go home was lowered quite a bit because I had lots of other priorities to keep me busy and occupied. The data showed that I was a little bit homesick because of how much I played Farming Simulator. Up until I went home, I was playing the game for long hours but after I got back, that amount of time I spent playing that game went to zero because I could do the actual thing at home so I didn’t feel the need to farm virtually. In his time, the way people played games was card games or table top games and the people you played with were right next to you. He would have classified that as “hot media”. For me however, every one of the people I play with have never met each other at all. The means of communication are a lot different. Where he would talk face to face with someone he's playing with, me on the other hand, either use the in-game chat or talk over Skype to communicate with clan members.
