“Thanks. I’ll be home soon.” I say. “Bye Sweetheart.” She says before kissing my forehead.

“Bye Mom.” I whisper before turning around and walking to the doorway.

After running for a little bit I duck into an alley and pull out my stele and drew a Heightened Speed rune on the inside of my arm before I took off running again.

I ran all the way from my neighborhood to the New York Institute.

Buffy's vision blurred, damp hair covered part of her face, sticking with wet. She blinked her vision clearer for a minute, not quite ready to pull herself out of the puddle, not quite sure if she could. Face sideways in the water, cold and probably dying, flashes of how ran through her mind almost in slow motion, but almost in hyperspeed. The last weeks of sparring and battle-prep and the impending death march running like blood through her ears. Coming down here, determined, to end it.…

When Christopher got home from school, his appetite always turned into a lively beast. I was bizarre how hungry, he got. So, he went to the fridge and got a Clementine. The petite thing just wasn’t enough to fill his vigorous stomach. He relocated his lean body to the pantry, and grabbed a box of delicious wasabi chips.…

Do you remember when you were a little kid and you had to climb on your counter-top to reach a cabinet? I remember it as if it was yesterday, maybe because it really was. All my life I have been dramatically smaller than all my peers. I have always been ostracized for the fact of my height which, in fact I have no jurisdiction over . I have always lived by the motto “Heart over height” in every aspect of life, and in every endeavor I encounter.…

I come from a family of seven with me being the fourth out of five kids. I was always the shy kid in school, so I did not stand out in my classes as much as the other kids. The only thing that set me apart from my classmates and siblings was my grades. Getting straight A’s practically my entire life had made me the go-to person for homework help. Throughout middle school and high school, my younger sister would always get sick with migraines.…

Jackie Robinson once said “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… all I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” This was my motto as i moved to the USA from Egypt at the age of six years old. Although i was not as old as i am now it was still tough. Thanks to determination and persistence i was able to not only make it in school but understand the language and speak it. It had been a year after my brother was born, i had made a lot of friends in kindergarten, had my dad’s side of the family here, i had finally learned to read and write a little bit of Arabic, and was about to go to first grade.…

I still remember the day when I first realized I hurt someone I soon regretted what I said, me saying harmful words to other people, posting embarrassing photos of other people. One night, I posted a photo and a threatend status online about this one person. The day when I realized I played the wrong game with the wrong person. The date was June 6th, 1976 at 3 am, I was driving and I received a message from my phone. A message that haunts me today, “you will regret what you just posted about me” –Unknown number.…

I chose to write an alternative ending to the short story “Family Supper” written by Kazuo Ishiguro because it has an open ending. This technique used by the author is very interesting as it creates suspense and lets the reader imagine for himself what happened. On the other hand, it is also somehow unsatisfactory as we want to know if the characters die or not from Fugu’s poison as the author seems to imply because of the way the story begins. Hence, I want to give this story an ending that answers to the questions that the readers may have, not altering the characters personalities and keeping to some extent the author’s style. Ishiguro gives us knowledge about the history of consumption and preparation of this fish and its dangers accurately.…
