I wish the moment could have lasted forever. Standing up in front of that crowd and receiving my medal sent pure joy coursing through my veins. At that point in time, I couldn’t believe what had just happened. I had placed in the top 15 of my race, and this wasn’t just any meet… this was districts.

In my life time I always been successful and unsuccessful but, one event that I consider to be very unsuccessful was when I didn’t push myself as much as I should have in Cross Country varsity race. I consider this to be one of my biggest failures because I didn’t force myself to keep up with the guy in front of me nor, did I force myself to keep up even with my teammates. I suffered in that race and questioned myself “Why am I doing this? Why do I even run?” I was morally and mentally crushed during this race and it just made me feel even worse when I found out during the race that I was in last place in the entire time I was racing.…

I shook hands with my competitors and walked off of the track more satisfied with myself than I had ever been. I walked back to the athletes tent to get my things that I had left there just before my race and walked towards the stairs of the stadium with my spikes in hand and a smile of satisfaction on my face. I walked up the stairs and went behind the bleachers where they posted the results. Some of my other teammates had been there to greet me with hugs and compliments about my race. As we waited my coaches came and congratulated me on such well run race.…

6 February 2016 The Run I was skeptical about going to high school, let alone a single-sex high school. However, the real challenge for me was the transition from a class size of 8 to 100. I never participated in typical activities, such as joining boy scouts, to gain experience with other kids my age. The majority of my childhood, I was only exposed to the same people which placed me in a very comfortable position in my small elementary school.…
