Runaway, Midnight, Awakening, Good Goodbye, Home, and Half the World Away. First is Runaway by Aurora, which I personally think is the best song for introducing this entire mix. It’s the song that highlights most of what I was looking for: involving my dad, transformation, courage, and dreams. This particular line caught my eye; “I had a dream I was seven, Climbing my way in a tree, I saw a piece of heaven, Waiting, impatient, for me.” It reminds me of wanting to explore areas outside my comfort zone. I’m also not exactly religious, so I interpret Aurora reaching for heaven as me reaching for my dreams. And I was running far away, Would I run off the world someday? Nobody knows, nobody knows, And I was dancing in the rain, I felt alive and I can't complain” This line reminds me of finally reaching that step where I have a little more responsibility, courage, as well as a transformation into someone less afraid and less dependent. The next chronological song would be Midnight by Lianne la Havas. Not only is this a personal favorite, the way I connected it to myself was similar to the previous track, minus the family piece. La Havas actually wrote this song in Jamaica, which I thought was interesting. This somewhat made me think of her personal journey to Jamaica and how it possibly made her feel. “If you could see what I see, you would dare to dream” could mean that what she is viewing or what is occurring is astounding and you would want to see it as well. Half The World Away was also by Aurora, and it is focused heavily on traveling, as indicated by the title. Overall, it is about her aspiration to get out of where she currently is and find better and more interesting things. This song is one I relate to the most out of all the songs, as I also want to leave here and explore for myself. Where the last three songs were all mostly related to dreams, this next track is solely interpreted as a transformation piece.
