Madison Moorman Rock Climbing With Family
The summer after fourth grade I went to South Dakota to go rock climbing. My family and I saw a lot of trees and deer. It felt like a long time for us to get there. It was so scary watching Ethan's dad go down the mountain. We went through the trees, I saw the birds. Ethen showed us how to put on the harnesses for us. They felt so weird, it was so tight. Ethen when first it look so scary. I was so nervous watching him up there. I thought he was going to fall out. I went after Ethen; I was so nervous but after I was up there it was fun. My brother climbed the highest, the second highest Ethan and I climbed a little less than Ethan, my sister was a less farther there down than me.

While I may have been raised in a small town in North Carolina and C.S. Lewis raised in Ireland, we both came to experience a great moment in both of our lives that had a lot of similarities. He was born in 1898 and I was born in 1998, I came in this world right at a year after he did. The amount of change that happened in the world during that time did not change the same key components of family, nature, and beauty that were all used in both of our special events. My experience with the Blyde River Canyon, was extremely similar to C.S. Lewis’s experience with the Toy Garden. My moment came when I was taken on a trip to south africa with my grandparents and my two younger cousins.…

The place I would visit often when I was a child was my Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house out in the country of Hayti, MO. Going there had a great influence on my life because it made me the hard worker I am today. From the age range of a baby to maybe around eight years old. I would often go there with my parents and my older brother. The drive there was very peaceful.…

Over summer I went with some friends to the Johnson Shut-ins in Missouri. It was the first time I went camping in years and it was one of the coolest trips I’ve ever been on. It started with the drive which was about two and a half hours through isolated roads which eventually got kind of creepy because we were in the middle of nowhere, every house had confederate flags posted, and we were running out of gas. We finally found the place and found our campground and we wanted to find out what the shut-ins were exactly. It was on the other side of the campground…

My family planned to stay down there for a few days anyway, but then they called and broke the news to us and said that we could stay with them. We live in Morgantown, WV so it was only a three and a half hour drive.…

When looking at objects that tell the story of my life, there does not seem to be a lot to choose from. I was an only child of a single parent. That being said the most memorable part would have been moving to Colorado and seeing the mountains for the first time at a young age. I remember the first time I saw Pikes Peak, how I was in shock and awe over how spectacular a natural formation coming from the Earth could be, as I have never seen anything quite like it before. The mountains span as far as our eyes could see and could we could see them from a great distance away.…

Whenever I would compete in any type competition, my mom would always say, “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, you are here and that’s all that matters.” My snowboarding career began when my parents purchased a house in Killington, Vermont, a mere decade before I was born. After I turned two years old, my parents would travel to their elegant cottage in Vermont every two weeks in the winter with me. From an extraordinarily young age, I developed a deep passion for snow sports. My dad taught me how to ski when I was just two years old, and I was a naturally exceptional skier.…

Amazingly, it felt like we were looking at hundreds of other 14ers that still had snow on them. Soon we had to climb down with the wind blowing like crazy. But, we still had one more mountain to climb, Elbert, the tallest peak in Colorado. In conclusion, if I put my mind to doing something that I am not comfortable doing and trust myself, I learned I am a brave human being.…

This girl Jamie died from a car accident because the driver didn't see a stop sign and it just hit me so I created a fundraiser for Jamie even though her school was a rivals but we raised around 2,000 dollars for her family, and a scholarship in her name. The title is catchy, I didn't know what it meant at first. I thought it was about sports…

My second experience climbing on the rock wall went much smoother than the first. Experience I gained from the first rock wall climb helped to calm my nerves. Due to the fact that I was more relaxed, I was able to focus more on the rock wall. I scaled the wall at a much faster pace than the first time.
