Verse
As the clouds come creeping in
I feel myself changing, I don’t even laugh the same anymore,
We eventually go numb; because you can’t break a heart that’s now broken.
Chorus
I miss the old, happy me.
Our hearts are monsters. That’s why our ribs are cages.
I can feel myself slowly fading from you mind
The less you talk, the more people think about your words.
Tell me… Why do you keep pushing me to my limits?
Verse
The demons inside my head are telling me so many things.
When you ask me if I’m doing okay,
I’ll always say I’m doing fine
When I just want to cry.
Chorus
I miss the old, happy me. Our heart are monsters. That’s why are ribs are cages.
I can feel myself slowly fading from you mind
The less you talk, the more people think about

I'm by all account not the only child who grew up like this encompassed by individuals who used to say that rhyme About sticks and stones As though broken bones hurt more than the names that we got called and we got called every one of them So we grew up trusting nobody would ever see us as the only star in the sky What's more, we'd feel as if we would be isolated until the end of time That we'd never meet somebody who'd make us feel like the sun was their gift to us: something they created from their bare hands using nothing but their toolbox. Bent, broken heart strings irritated us from deep within our hearts Don’t tell me that hurts less than a broken bone That an ingrown life is something surgeons can just pluck out that…

Every Thursday at 3:30pm I get into my dad's Air Force blue, 2005 Ford Explorer, and I am filled with a nausea of excitement. My anticipation cuts through the mixture of country music and old rock ‘n’ roll filling in the car. I am aware that once we park the car at 220 Geiger Road in front of Doc Bresler’s Cavity Busters, that I will be forced to overcome a new obstacle. As a child I was always intellectually curious, musically inclined, athletically challenged, and hungry.…
