I believe we have all had that one moment when we prayed to God that, “If you get me through this Lord, I will never do it again. I promise.” Now in my life I’ve had a lot of those “Oh crap” moments, but the one that sticks out the most is the one back when I just turned fifteen and got into my first wreck. Since that fateful day I have been in a lot more wrecks. Apparently I did not learn any lessons, but this is the memory that sticks out the most. The day the wreck happened, I went to a basketball game at my high school. I am still trying to figure out why I wanted to go. I did not like basketball, and the only reason I wanted to go is so I could drive and hang out with my friends. I had very specific instructions from my mother to be home by 6:00 and not a minute later. …show more content…
I knew that I could stay at the game until about 5:45. At the game I was being a typical teenager talking with my friends and having a good time. I got sidetracked and lost track of time. I had less than ten minutes to get home! I left the game without saying goodbye to anyone and ran to my car. I was speeding and probably would have made it home just in time. Disappointed, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I sat there between the shattered windshield and my steering wheel. I couldn’t stop thinking about what just happened, what did I just do, and did this really just happen to me? My lungs began to tighten up as I began to cry out of fear. Knowing that my parents were back in Arizona and I was there all alone with no family.…

We were leaving the house and, of course, running behind. I forgot to pack my gear, didn’t wake up in time to eat breakfast, and was tired. When my family had finally gotten into the car it was an hour after we had originally planned to leave. After about an hour and a half of driving, we stopped at McDonalds for lunch and then again at a gas station so that we could all use the restroom. The original plan was to go check in at the hotel before going to the game, but that just was not possible anymore.…

It all happened so fast. The sound of an explosive firing at my chest, the smell of the air bag remnants, and the sight of two totaled cars. The first thought I had was: "my brother is going to kill me". It had only been a week since I left the Secretary of State with the teenage triumph of my driver’s license. The urge to drive to school was irresistible, despite my brother adamantly opposing the prospect of me driving his car.…

On September 9th, 2016 I was a passenger in rear-end car accident. At the young age of seventeen, I was ignorant, rebellious and negligent. At this time, I honestly believed that I knew it all and was always in the right; I would ignore anyone trying to guide me towards the right path or give me advice. As in the short story “Rain of Fire” by Evan Thomas, I would have never expected that a regular day could end up in such catastrophe. I learned not to trust those whom I have not gotten to know well enough.…

Mom made it home in about ten minutes due to how fast she was driving. She then assessed the situation and loaded me up into the truck to haul me to the Emergency Room, also in Sedan. I remember there being Moore 4 road construction on the highway in front of our house. My mom made the lady with the stop sign hate her job. The lady would not let my mom through, so with me still screaming bloody murder in the backseat my mom was yelling “My daughter just broke her arm and we need through now.”…

The participants used more cohesive ties on the personal narrative than on the pictorial narrative. This may be due to the sequential nature of the personal narrative task and the descriptive nature of the pictorial task. Additionally, the results of this study show that older adults use greater lexical diversity during the pictorial task than the personal narrative tasks.…

Highway stretched behind me, winding up the coast in meandering curves. If one traced the path I’d gone, it would be through a tunnel, onwards through a small town that seemed frozen in time, and to a small emergency room that seemed like it rarely saw emergencies. Behind me was Washington, and on this bridge, I couldn’t quite be sure if I was in Oregon yet, but even if I was, it would still be 20 minutes until I got back to the campground. Well, it would have been 20 minutes if I’d actually known how to drive. November 2016.…
