Personal Narrative: Requesting A Court Hearing

Decent Essays
I have received a ticket on Saturday, ‎June ‎17, ‎2017. I tried to request a court hearing online. My ticket information does not seem to show up online. It's my first time in this type of a situation. If it's not too much of an inconvenience, I would like to request a courtroom hearing in the District #4, preferably on any Friday. If that is not possible. Please send me the information on when and where I need to be at for my hearing.

We figured that my niece would have to see the error of her ways, get help, take classes, go to group therapy sessions, find a job and conquer her case plan. How long could that possibly take six months? The good news was that my sister who is the children’s Grandmother would be there to help us, getting the babies from daycare and coming home to help out while I juggled homework. We had it all planned out. My father, husband and I took turns taking my niece to her court dates and classes.…

It was a small court room, and the room was filled with all sorts of people. I think there were some that was there for court and some were there to hear someone’s sentencing. There was a banner you could see as you walked in at the front of the room that said” Show up, Be honest, and Try”. To my left of the court room there was a jury box with people in it, I thought there was a trial going on, but actually there were two people in orange and I believe the other people were counselors for their program.…

As a criminal justice major, I found this chapter particularly interesting. I tend to wrestle with the insanity plea. I realize that there are some cases where it is beyond evident that the person was criminally insane. However, for the most part I tend to see it as a cop out. I see it as a way for the defense to get their client freed from responsibility.…

I headed into the courtroom of Judge Thomas Marcelain to observe my first courtroom trial. The trial involved a 31-year-old man named, Daniel Bohanna, of Pataskala. Mr. Bohanna decided to represent himself in his trial for fear of misrepresentation. He was charged with rape, kidnapping, and felonious assault. To begin with, my early childhood threw me for a loop with one word—divorce. My parents decided to call it quits, which left me and my brothers with our father and his girlfriend. Unfortunately, this has likely been the worst decision ever made because neither of them had any want or experience on taking care of three kids. With that being said, I did come out with a few positive additions to my personality as I quickly became an independent child. This is due to the fact that, I suddenly had the responsibility of getting myself ready for school and remembering to do my homework, alone.…
