May’s court day with Tulsa Municipal Court House May Anderson’s first time at the Tulsa downtown courthouse, she was guilty for not making a complete stop at a red light intersection. We figured that my niece would have to see the error of her ways, get help, take classes, go to group therapy sessions, find a job and conquer her case plan. It was a small court room, and the room was filled with all sorts of people. I think there were some that was there for court and some were there to hear someone’s sentencing. As a criminal justice major, I found this chapter particularly interesting. I tend to wrestle with the insanity plea. I realize that there are some cases where it is beyond evident that the person was criminally insane. However, for the most part I tend to see it as a cop out. I headed into the courtroom of Judge Thomas Marcelain to observe my first courtroom trial. The trial involved a 31-year-old man named, Daniel Bohanna, of Pataskala. Mr. Bohanna decided to represent himself in his trial for fear of misrepresentation. He was charged with rape, kidnapping, and felonious assault. I have seen footage on T.V. from famous trials and of course seen reenactments from Hollywood, but I have never been to one in person until now.…

To begin with, my early childhood threw me for a loop with one word—divorce. My parents decided to call it quits, which left me and my brothers with our father and his girlfriend.
