Personal Narrative: Red Rocks Amphitheater

Improved Essays
My ears were popping and I was starting to feel light headed as we climbed higher and higher toward Red Rocks Amphitheater. Red Rocks is right outside the edge of the hipster, pot smoking, mile high city Denver. I was going to see the dirty rocking, alternative, up in coming band Cage the Elephant. When you are first entering Red Rocks park everything drastically changes. The sky starts to turn a darker more vivid blue as everything else turns a tint of red form the dust. The mountains around me are a bright dusty red, and the closer to the amphitheater that I got the rock walls turned into a dark clean red that looked like it was tanned by the sun and the dust washed off by the cool whirling winds coming off the giant white peaked mountains. …show more content…
These rocks were huge! They cast shadows that were miles’ long and would black out the sun for hours. As I drove closer to the amphitheater across the red dessert of dust that would create huge clouds behind me, the boulder would grow taller and taller until I couldn’t see the top of them anymore. When I got inside the amphitheater the first thing I noticed was I was inside the giant rocks. They surrounded me like huge watchtowers always in my sight anywhere I went. When I gazed upon the seats they had stadium style seating cut out from the red rock itself. I got as close to the stage as I could. When I sat down the rock felt cool to the touch like it’s been in the shade all day long. Looking past the stadium you see the flickering lights of Denver, but not all of its lights; they stretched for miles until they blended in with the horizon and the twinkling stars behind

In one hike you can get it all: redwood groves, wildflower-filled meadows, rocky outcroppings, cascading creeks and sweeping views. This is Sonoma County at its best, the Pomo Canyon Trail, a 4.5-mile stretch between a wooded campground and Shell Beach. Naturally, unless you bring two cars, enjoying the entire trail would cause you to rack up nine miles. If you start at the Pomo Canyon Campground, you might have to add another mile, as when I hiked it, the campground was closed, and I do not know if it is permanent or seasonal.…

Still until this day I wonder why she allowed me to get one a year later.…

Excitement was running through my body. Although it took forever to get here I wanted to stay there for a while, the lights were amazing as the neon lights of the Las Vegas strip were lit up and very beautiful. Directly outside the entrance of the airport I was entranced. Leaving a skyline of dying trees and brisk weather and entering a bright flourishing tropic was a sight of wonderland. I fell in love immediately, the sun was high and bright, and the view was green, full of mountains in the horizon, just out of reach. I was astounded that I was in the big city, yet it was nothing like i’d seen before. The buildings weren’t tall or intimidating like back home, they second to the surrounding…

Overgrown grass grew between the crevices that the rocks had formed. I walked up to the majestic flat stones and placed my hand on the one closest to me. Taking a deep breath, I found a crevice that my foot could reach and hoisted myself up and continued to climb to the top. Once up there, I turned to face the city and sat down. The rocks were warmed from the sun and although they were rigid, they seemed unbelievably comfortable.…
