My parents did the best they could rising three black girls in the disinvested urban areas of Chicago. My father having a high school education and my mother only a year of community college. They continue to be a wonderfully supportive but weren’t able and aren’t able to provide the financial support needed for my education. Throughout my undergraduate studies I accumulated debt due to the student loans needed to cover university fees. Additionally living and working in New York makes it extremely difficult to save and invest while balancing a healthy lifestyle.

Loiello played a principal role in increasing US students attendance to SOAS, University of London through fundraising and a valuable supporter of SOAS. More than a sole financial support, this speaks to the scholastic and innovative durability of a community. The John Loiello AFSOAS FISH Scholarship will encourage me to development as an individual abroad and impact my future tremendously.
