Personal Narrative: Realizing My Uncle Chisolm

Realizing My Powers Being human means having memories that have shaped who we are as people. Everyone has had at least two or three prevalent memories when asked about their life as a whole. I have come to realize I have more strengths than I knew and even more memories that have given me these strengths. Events in my life have led me to be a better individual, learner, and community member. As an individual I am very complex, as are most people. But, there is one memories in particular that comes to mind when I try to describe myself. Every summer as a child my family would go down to visit my uncle in Charleston. He was pretty much my brother and my favorite person. My Uncle Chisolm was a good southern man with southern morals who loved to boat and fish. Going to visit him …show more content…
Om this specific day my parents, two brother, my uncle, my aunt, and I were all on the boat, swimming and exploring and having a blast. Until that is the rain clouds came out of nowhere and began to pour on us. Seeing a giant storm approaching, my uncle knew he needed to hurry and get us all home safe. I have never been on a boat that went as fast as my uncle’s boat seemed to go that day. Once we were back to the shore there was still the fact of getting to boat on to the trailer on my uncle’s truck. As my brothers and I sat in the car we watched four grown adults try to maneuver this in the pouring rain with lightning flashing all around us. My mom and uncle were yelling at each other as if they were ten again, my aunt was yelling at my uncle to not yell as my mom, and my dad was just yelling to try to stop everyone else from yelling. After a huge yelling match the boat was successfully out of the water and we were ready to go on our way. As my mom and uncle went to get in their separate cars they were laughing and smiling at
