Ready or Not, Here Comes College “Hey guys, when should we go get our books for PSEO?” Jasmine asked.
“Aren't we supposed to get them on August 15th?” responded Grace. “Sure, I can drive everyone to the campus,” I offered.
When August 15th came around, I drove my friends to the Riverland Community College campus in Owatonna. We'd all been there before to create our schedule for the upcoming semester. The three of us walked through the doors and into the bookstore. Usually when I hear the word “bookstore” I get excited, but I knew this bookstore was going to be very different from the bookstores I was used to. As we walked into the bookstore, there were two ladies behind the desk making small talk. “Can you believe it's already August?” exclaimed the middle-aged woman who was to my left.
“I know! Crazy how fast the summer goes!” responded the elderly woman on my right. They just had to bring that up as three teenagers, who were savoring their summer break, walked in. “Hello, we are here to get are textbooks” I said, more rudely than I intended. I didn't mean to direct my irritation at them, it

I showed her my PSEO schedule and she walked over to the books. Grace, Jasmine, and I all followed her and listened as she explained how to find our books. She handed me the three textbooks I would be needing for the semester. I figured my friends would be on their own since she had told us how to find our books. Thankfully, the elderly lady was nice enough to help them gather their textbooks as well. At first glance, my three textbooks didn’t look too different from anything I had in high school. The English book and History book were a little thinner than I was used to, but the inside is what matters. I walked up to the counter to let the nice, elderly lady ring up my textbooks. As she scanned the textbooks in, I turned to my friends and noticed their different

Being the first in the family to take interest in college is already enough for everyone to push me in the direction to achieving it. I do not want to disappoint them or myself, I want to be on the graduation stage with my hand grasping that master degree. About me, others describe me as opinioned, stubborn and independent. Although I do not want to admit it, these traits all apply to me. Opinioned doesn’t sound as an appealing word to me I should say I like for people to understand my views completely also I don’t mind if someone does not agree with me, it just adds more depth to the discussion.…

On the 1st day of AP English class all you heard was the clock barely ticking, sweat coming off of the teacher forehead and the students taking out paper and writing utensils to take notes on what we need. What stood out was Mrs. Fantroy’s strong voice along with the books that were shown for everyone to read that semester. The books looked like they could have come from out of ancient tombs or something. She had at least two lengthy looking books. She stated, “These are just some books for you guys to read just this semester.…

I slithered through the group of people crowding the fine arts room and sat in the back corner. I prayed that I would have an extra day to go over my video, that in my opinion thoroughly sucked. For this assignment I had the opportunity to observe Renee Boucher's resource room class at Sunset High School in Beaverton. This observation was interesting and different from previous observations I have done, for this was my first time observing a high school classroom. H annelore Bauer’s sister, the thirteen year old Ingeborg “Inge” Bauer, was lugging around a rectangular wooden box with two attached straps, allowing her to carry the box on her back. Long past nightfall, a full moon illuminating the nighttime sky was enough lighting for her. With not a single oncoming vehicle in sight, she crossed an empty countryside road in the Midwest, towards a ditch. Adelburger Walther Schäffer and FVL leaders Lucas Fields, Preston Connelly, and Gudruna Hurley were waiting for her there. Jumping into the ditch and making a perfect landing on her two feet, the four RGA members were rather glad that Inge was able to come along, in addition to the wooden box that she carried on her back.…

Each year, the students of my middle school dreaded only one thing about summer: “summer reading”. Not only were the required books notoriously dull, they were also difficult to relate to as a twelve-year-old with problems typical of adolescents. As an avid reader, this disappointed me. I had no issue with the written assignments about the reading that needed to be completed, but each year I was left wishing the book had been more interesting. When I was in seventh grade, this dry spell was broken for the grade above me.…

On May 23rd of 2016, the class sauntered into their final period of the day, Honors English. After a few minutes of socializing the class took their seats to begin another day of scholarly events. To our dismay, the agenda that led in store for us was quite short, which is usually a rare occurrence. After reading the agenda, many students quickly realized we would be reading multiple excerpts from “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” This resulted in the departure of several students back to their lockers to grab a copy of their book.…
