She was twelve and had just started to make friends with some of the girls she went to school with. My husband Gary and I had an easy life raising Hope. She always studied and worked hard in school, and then helped as much as she could with the oxen and cows along with her father. Hope never failed to get good grades, keep the house clean, and be kind to everyone. She was clearly the most upset and affected one in our family. We also had a young son, named Mark. Four years ago Mark was brought into our family, and ever since he's been the troublemaker of the house. He rarely ever listened to Gary and I and he always wanted to do what he wanted to do. When our children turn one year old, Gary and I give them a tiny calf, and they get to name them. Struggling I open my eyes and notice the trembling cabin, I turn to my mother with a look of concern and she reaches out her hand and squeezes my own looking up at me, “we are going to be okay Mar”. A couple of moments later our plane has landed, we gather up our belongings and make our way towards the exit filled with people attached to their screens and MP3 players. The airport is filled with an undercurrent of anticipation, impatience, and boredom; bodies scramble back and forth from one gate to another.
