For many years I responded to situations as a victim, believing I wasn't good enough or blaming others for my choices. As an adult, I try to assume responsibility but old habits die hard and it is a struggle at times to push the victim away. When I consciously choose to not be a victim it is empowering. I am confident and in control of the situation at hand. If I believe nothing anyone "does to me" affects me, I no longer have the desire to be the victim. It would provide the confidence to make choices based on my own beliefs and desires, without the influence of others.
