Personal Narrative-Racial Profiling In High School

Great Essays
Around halfway through the year, classes became unbearable with the constant, dehumanizing schoolwork. Every assignment tugged and cracked any remaining portion of uniqueness I had left. I felt that the curriculum was intentionally designed to ready us to be a factory worked with a company ID instead of a name, just like the A.T. PERSONAS forced down our throats. Since he subjected me to infernal besiegement on a daily basis, I thought I should pull a prank on my homeroom officer. Every day he would use his superfluous title as ‘officer’ to subject us to his whims, just to inflate his pompous ego. Since, we could not talk in class, even in homeroom, he could insult us students for as long as he wanted, and we couldn't fight back. Courageous …show more content…

Gottard. I wanted to get to school early, and catch the 6:30 bus, to covertly plant my instruments of revenge. I did all my usual morning routines and went to the bus, which was almost completely empty. It was just the bus-driver, a businessman in the back, and me, creating a heavily awkward atmosphere. When I arrived at school I made my way to Mr. Gottard’s room, 367A4, and walked in. I knew he would not be in his room, as he was always in the staff cafeteria in the morning, and frequently came into the class after all of his students were already there. He would always spend the maximum amount of time in the morning at the staff cafeteria, to save his energy for bullying helpless students. I plastered my messages on the front board of the classroom, smiled at my masterpiece, and went to the library. When the first period bell range, I felt butterflies in my stomach and a sense of accomplishment. I checked Instagram to see if my message had spread, and sure enough it was already trending at A.T.

Racial profiling is a strategy of stopping a citizen because of their color of his or her skin, and fleeting suspicion that the person is conspiring in criminal behavior. This application can be managed with routine traffic stops, or can be entirely random based upon the car that is being driven, or the amount of people in the car and the ethnicity of the driver and the passengers aboard. Racial profiling has been apart of the law enforcement system for a long time now, and it is nothing that has not been seen. The only reason why people hear more about this topic is due to the use of media, and how it has brought this controversial topic to the public eye a lot more than in the past. The question that has so much controversy, is racial profiling just or bad, and does it actually have an effect on the way law enforcement fight crime.…

As the child of a single mother who is a police officer I had to learn the skill of self-sufficiency quickly. If my mother was working night shift I could not knock on her bedroom door when I had a nightmare because she was out protecting the public. I learned quickly that being a police officer is dangerous work and that the possibility that she might not come home one day is an ever-present one. Unlike many cases I have heard of, I never rebelled against my mother and her chosen profession. It is easy to see why many children of first responders do rebel.…

Equality something that this nation that we cohabit says we have, but somehow something that not all individuals seem to fully pose. To be successful in this nation that we call home, you first must have this unearned privilege of being Caucasian, which is considered the best privilege, being a Caucasian male gives you an advantage, then next you must be heterosexual and align with the social norms that those in power have attempted to enforce upon us. But what about those who do not conform to the social norms that have set in place or those who are non Caucasian, what happens to those individuals who are not privileged enough to reach the top without a vast amount or hardship in front of them. Do we then attempt to build institutions that…

Racial Profiling Racial profiling is a method used by law enforcement officials to target individuals for the suspicion of crime based on ones demographics (ACLU, 2005). Everyday, thousands of African Americans in the United States are racially profiled by law enforcement, businesses, and other citizens. “Driving while black” is a common phrase that implies that an African-American motorist has a higher chance of being pulled over by law officials because of the color of their skin rather than a vehicle or traffic violation.…
