And Manhattan always has something new and exciting things! Everyone dreams NY. I was there! For a week, every single moments I enjoyed NY. But, it happened again at the last day in NYC. It was morning. I was waiting a bus to go LaGuardia airport. About 20 peoples were in the line and I stood up middle of them. It was not an ideal time to grab a bottle whisky and strolled casually throughout the street. But there was a guy who did. The guy stared at me and approached me. I felt everyone who are in line kept eyes on him. He stood up in front of me and yelled to me. "Go back China." When I did pluck up courage, I was shaking from fear. Can you guess what I said at the moment? 'I am from Korea.' I murmured. I didn't mean to embarrass him. Anyway he yelled to me with more loudly, "Go back Korea." After he stumbled to the street. When he disappeared into the crowd, people who stood a line with me looked at me. An old lady hugged me "Please forgot it. I apologize it." The other girl said "He is crazy! I am your side." People surround me said "I am sorry." Even it was not their fault, they kept said

Racial Profiling in New York Prisons In this short essay, I will talk about how rhetoric, connotation and denotation are used, as well as a few fallacies committed in, “The Stain of Racism in New York’s Prisons,” by the Editorial board at The New York Times. “The Stain of Racism in New York’s Prisons,” discusses the author’s opinion how Black and Latino men are discriminated against in the prisons of New York. They provide lots of evidence to support their opinion on the discrimination of Black and Latino men in those prisons, however, why did the author write this editorial the way they did? What was the purpose of the connotation, denotation, rhetoric, and even fallacies committed in this article?…

I was born a woman; probably my father wasn’t so happy about my gender. Perhaps he wanted a boy named after him. I can’t remember my first thought as a baby, but I’m sure I wasn’t able to distinguish between males and females, or the fact that the doctor was a male and the nurse was a female. I just knew I wanted to love and be loved regardless of my race, sex, or religion. My friend Melissa was raped, and it was her fault.…

The sentence, “And you are not the guy and still you fit the description because there is only one guy who is always the guy fitting the description” is repeated. I think it’s repeated because the author want to remind us that there is always someone mistaken for the criminal. This is important because in the black community, people are always being frisk for unjustified reasons or rather they fit the description. Everytime I read that sentence, I start to think deeper and and ask myself why is there always one other person that fits the criminal description? I learned in my American Government class that black people are the highest victims of stop and frisk.…

Another tragic memory that pumped some sense into my head about racial identity and ethnic disparities; was when my elder brother was arrested on the basis of being black. My brother was wrongfully arrested because a Caucasian officer expressed that he saw him rob someone. Upon arrival at the scene trying to understand what happened, that officer expressed in his words that “ nigger you know you robbed that store”. I couldn’t believe that this was happening to me because, I have always heard about situations like this. The officer made more remarks such as, “you niggers are always stealing”, “you niggers will always be shit”, and you are going to pay for this crime even if you did not do it.…

The Houston runway was quickly disappearing beneath me, the plane ascending, leaving my stomach dismantled on the tarmac. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I was truly on a plane, by myself, headed to Buenos Aires, Argentina. My mother laughed at the thought of me living abroad; consistently making it known my ideas were childish, financially unstable and unattainable. With a slight grin pulling at my lips, I close my eyes and begin to wonder what the world will look like on the other side of that airplane door.…

I never really thought too much about racism when growing up. Maybe that is due to my upbringing. I was raised in a small diverse country town where, for the most part, everyone got along. Not to say that there was no racism; it just was not seen very often. Some would call me lucky to have been so naïve in my microcosm.…

I agreed that the culture of Americans had been diverse due to multi-racial and the immigrants’ community. However, do not generalize or limit the idea of race as a social construct only in America. America is consist of two continent which are the South and the North.
