My service at the St. Louis Zoo is one of the things that got me interested in conservation and biology. That is when I began to look into the different job opportunities the field of science had to offer. I was also thinking of going into the medical field, and like everyone I had my eyes set on being a doctor.
With my interest still set on biology and medicine, I was now questioning what type of doctor I wanted to be. After traveling to Belize for the first time to see where my dad grew up, I saw the lack of healthcare that many of the locals suffered from. I soon came to the realization, that many people all over the world suffer from inadequate healthcare just as those in Belize do. During this time, I was also beginning the college search. I had also learned about the physician assistant profession, which helped in broadening my options.
I decided to go to Saint Louis University because they offer a specific biology concentration in ecology, evolution, and conservation. Their medical and physician assistant school and emphasis on service were big selling points for me too. I also liked that they had extensive options to study
