I was a musician and a really good one at that. I had gotten a full ride scholarship to UCA to be apart of their band. I remember the day I got my acceptance letter in the mail. It was a week before graduation and I had just gotten home from work. I was exhausted after the day I had (four tests, two presentations, band practice, and waiting tables at U.S. Pizza Co.). I walked in the door and my mom was standing there in the kitchen with an envelope in her hand and a big smile on her face. I set my stuff down, walked over to where she was standing, and took the envelope. The return address in the corner was UCA. I opened the envelope and skimmed through the letter. I was relieved to see that I had been accepted , but then I realized I hadn’t just been accepted. I had gotten a full ride scholarship! I looked at my mom with a surprised look on my face and she immediately snatched the paper out of my hand.
I had worked so hard for that scholarship. I spent months preparing to audition for it, and when it came down to the audition I thought I had blown it. I apparently did way better than I thought I did though because a year later I was starting college at UCA with a full ride scholarship. I decided to go with the more “practical” career so I majored in psychology and minored in music. I wish I would have gone with my gut and majored in music. I would be a lot more
