Personal Narrative: Preparing In Summer School

The puzzle pieces were starting to scatter apart when I got notified by my second grade teacher that I had to take that recuperation exam for math class. It wasn't a surprise, back then I wasn’t that efficient at math. I needed support, so I took tutoring in math courses for about a month and studied the whole content that I took for my second grade year. If I didn’t pass that test I knew I would be unsatisfied. That way I feel it’s worse than summer school. That's how it is in my country, which takes place in Honduras. I would say it’s tougher, based on the fact that there is major pressure. Besides, who would desire to repeat a school year over again? Definitely not me , I speculated. I remember I reviewed that list with my tutor, it was endless, I knew that test would endure the full-lenght afternoon to finish it, although that wasn’t the point, it was to just attain the result just right, to earn a …show more content…
After all that vigorous work. It’s as if I was trapped in a nightmare and finally opening my eyes again to just see a bright sun in the sky. We weren’t in good economical situations my mom was forced to pay money for my tutor and the recuperation exam, plus I needed to pass. Which means if I didn't pass that test it would be making my mom throwing all that money into the trash.

I knew how horrible was to stay and take a recuperation exam that could depend a school year and would be carried away an immense chunk of my life. Even as an 8 year of age infant you go through challenges similar to this. That’s from where your road to success starts after all, still occasionally it only takes for you to truly believe in yourself and take that leap of faith, but it’s on you. Can you reach it to the other side? It’s in your hands. After all, I was just a

The transition from High School can often times be very frustrating for students. L. Lennie Irvin opened my eyes to one of the bad habits I picked up on in High school. The habit of straying from the topic or theme could cause me to fail not only papers in English but my other courses as well. I personally had a hard time with English my first semester of college. I was 10 years old. I looked from the edge of the mat, unaware about the endeavor I was about to take the moment my foot touched that mat. I finally decided to walk on, like they had taught me by bowing, it was the first of a near million times I was going to do this. I was a white belt, at the best taekwondo centers in the area. All the kids, stood to the side eerily silent, waiting for instructions.…

Being a high school student is composed of restless nights, and eight exhausting hours of classes in which you are obligated to stay awake in. A normal school day begins with me snoozing my alarm about ten times before my dad walks into my room telling me the dreaded “time to get up for school” reminder which I just take as a suggestion. Normally I will drag myself into the bathroom about ten minutes later to begin my routine. I spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom preparing myself for school and by the time I am done it is usually time to grab all of my things and barely catch the bus. Now this has to be my least favorite part of the day.…

My decision to return to college was purely random. There was no pondering over the decision; no weighing in the pros and cons, no thinking it through or any real thought behind it. I literally woke up one morning and said to myself “I think I’ll go back to college” and I made the call. I called the College of New Rochelle and made the appointment for the admissions test. And before I knew what was actually happening, I was a matriculated college student.…

My most memorable experience is the day I was told I wouldn’t receive my diploma, as I reminisce over my past years in school, I tried to do the best I could in every subject, what I failed to do was to ask questions, engage myself with my counselors (advisers) and to do my research on the classes I needed to acquire my diploma. This was the first stepping stone to further my long term goals in my career path. When I realized my situation, I knew my move to Florida was a big mistake. I was attending a school in Massachusetts named Science and Technology; and I had already completed all my classes and the state mandated test there, which is called the MCAS before I relocated. When I moved to Haines City, Florida and transferred to Haines City High School the guidance counselors told me that the state of Florida would not accept my test scores from Massachusetts.…

The first day of school is something that is dreaded by most, it is the end of the wonderful time we call summer, it starts months and months of stress and pain, and it means getting up at six every weekday, with about four to six hours of sleep. Once you finally realize that you cannot escape the impending doom that is upon you, it is time to get up and get ready for it. Now school is not that bad, but the first day is one of my least favorite days of the year, I dislike the introductions, the explanations of the classes that you will be stuck with, and the little games that teachers make us play. It makes me feel like a child again and the first day just feels so vile because I know that it is leading to a year’s worth of school. After I finished getting ready for school, I reluctantly get into my car and start driving to school.…

My Catalyst Each individual in this world carries on a view of themselves, of others, of things, of beings that expand from one state of mind to another. Each event that has happened from birth to this day acts like a rhythmic catalyst carrying one piece of the story to the next. At certain times of our lives, that catalyst can become more than a regular “piece”, it becomes something that we often look back to as we grow up. It could range from first realizing that a plump man in a red velvet suit cannot possibly squeeze his body into a chimney, to standing in front of a crowd dressed in a white dress and veil to say “I do”. What has impacted me, were a few simple words that my uncle had said that had extraordinarily simplified my young and yet to be understood life.…

Sometimes, the things we know, we can take for granite. We can learn through teachers reiterating the same advice over and over again, until we can move on to something new.
