Personal Narrative: Plant Quests

Improved Essays
One quest I would love to achieve is planting numerous trees. Doing so, the planet would be a much better place to live in. People are cutting down countless amounts of trees for products such as paper and paper towels. Abounding amounts of trees cut down can be a problematic issue for the organisms in the future or even today. Therefore one quest for me is planting an abundant amount of trees.
To attain this quest, there might be several ways to plant trees. I would use a common way which is buying tree saplings or seeds. After buying them, I would plant the trees in an open location, where the roots can receive water and leaves can receive sunlight. Also, I would use fencing around the tree saplings or seeds considering animals, birds,

I remember when I had first bought the Marigold seeds, I was looking at the picture on the seed packet examining the beautiful elegant flowers. I rushed home, I ripped open the packet and started to dig little holes in my yard for my new flowers. Days later, I watched them grow as if they were my own children; I watched them become vibrant and full of life. They had given me the hope and happiness I lost when the Great Depression hit. They had lit up my dull and boring yard and made my days brighter.…

Ever since my first backpacking trip 6 years ago, I’ve had an affinity for the Appalachian Trail. I’m constantly looking for excuses to mash our lives into the giant, 50 liter bags, and hit the trail for a few days. This past year, in early fall, I convinced my parents to don their sturdy boots and disappear into the wilds of bear state park with me for three days. We were dropped off at the top of Bear Mountain and, while my parents argued over directions, I wandered around the windswept ridge.…

I once went on a hike on the Appalachian Trail with my mother. We set off and it started to rain on the first day, and my mom began to complain. By the end of the day, I wanted to jump off the mountain before I pushed her off it. Suffice to say, we were not well-suited hiking partners, due to our different processes; my mother dealt with her grievances by talking about the cold. On the other hand, I was just as miserable, but I attempted to ignore the dismal weather.…

Through my four years in high school, one of the toughest classes I faced was AP biology. The rigorous course involved an intense 48 chapter lesson plan with a 2 hour AP exam at the end of the school year. Near the end of my junior, I was skeptical of taking this class, as I heard from my fellow classmates that the class was difficult to earn a decent grade. With this in mind, I began preparing for the class over the summer by reading the textbook, and practicing using the workbook. As I read the book, I became deeply interested in this subject.…

Gardening was a ‘forced’ hobby for a good portion of my childhood. Since elementary school, I worked with my dad in our back yard; I would dig holes, carry bags of manure, and plant flowers and trees. I complained that it would be easier to go to the store and buy a bag of blackberries instead of toiling in the sun for hours to achieve the same thing. I never imagined that I’d end up gardening for fun. Every year, my brother and I would collect the fruits of our labor; every year, I’d appreciate my efforts more and more.…

On earth, there are so many species of trees depending on the part of the world a person lives. Some trees are endangered and if no proper precautions are taken, those trees will be at a very serious risk of extinction. For example, “the so-called sex tree, Citropsis articulata, is quickly disappearing from Uganda 's Mabira Forest Reserve, one of the country 's last remaining rain forests, because its roots are believed to cure impotence” (Okeowo). Therefore, efforts should be made to preserve the endangered trees so that the next generation can also benefit from these trees. Forests are of two different types; some forests are natural and others are man-made.…
