The Journey, In Retrospect The whole semester of English 5A was like playing with Legos, but with literature. I would use the things I learned previously in high school and build them up with the new things I learned from 5A. It was very difficult to find the right parts and piece them together to create the “perfect” essay. On the other hand, I was able to learn the necessary skills to converse with the authors in the text, From Inquiry to an Academic Writing, by Stuart Greene and April Lidinsky.…

My heart is pumping a hundred miles per minute; I jump up like a frog to get some blood flowing to my legs, then it’s time to begin. “On your mark,” I prepare my mind for the pressure I'm about to endure; “set,” the signal to move one leg in front of the other; “Go!” My legs are going faster than I can even think to tell them to go. I begin sprinting to the first hurdle that signifies who is running the fastest; I’m shaking; my heart is pounding out of my chest; I feel the sweat dripping down my face already; I think of nothing but my breath and my speed; I begin to feel numb. By the 200 meter mark, I tap into the last ounce of energy left in me to give a last kick to bring me to full speed.…

Model Personal Narrative I found out that my life was about to change and definitely not for the better. My school was closing, and beginning in September, I would be going to P.S. 278. That may not sound so awful, but here’s the thing—that’s where Clarice Sullivan was going to school, and Clarice Sullivan was troubel! Clarice had hounded me for years taunting me about every little thing. It was a little over a year ago that she had moved across town and started going to P.S. 278.…

Before beginning this leadership course I knew the basic definition of what leadership means to me. This definition has been shaped by many events and people. My Timeline and My Lifeline represent events in my life that have contributed to who I am today. Some national events like the attacks of 9/11 and Columbine (that occurred four days before I was born), increased safety concerns for all of the nation which is why employers want to ensure who he or she hires is qualified and someone he or she can trust, while lawmakers often raise the issue of safety when passing a law. Other national events are increasingly surrounding technology.…
