I am very outgoing and full of self-assurance. Since participating in musical theater, I have reached a whole new level of confidence, because of theater I am able to stand in front of a crowd and make myself known, without worries. I am able to present myself in a room, since I have no problems with public speech. I can easily approach people, and am a free spirit; I make new friends in a matter of hours of knowing them. Personally, I think my constant strive to be better at what I love to do says a lot about me and shows my determination. My parents have always said the talent will only get you so far and that hard work and dedication is what will get you all the way. Being a part of theater for about 5 years now has also taught me a lot about empathy and working as a team. Learning how to embody and live as someone else for just a little while has made me a more empathetic person outside of the theater and made me more understanding to those who live differently than I do or have different beliefs and values. Rehearsing and performing with the same group of people for 4 weeks to even a few months can bring people quite close.…

Performing is something I just love to do, in a group or as a soloist. When I began high school at Stagg, I wanted to be in an acapella group; an afterschool, audition only choir. After three years of auditioning and being rejected, I finally made it in my senior year. The experience wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be, but it was still a major accomplishment. From being in that group, I learned that I prefer to be a solo musician.…

I have always had a love of the arts, but it wasn't until I was a munchkin in The Wizard of Oz that I knew I wanted to be an actor. Up until that point, I had just wanted to sing, but being up on that stage made me want to do musicals for the rest of my life. But what really made me want to pursue musical theatre was that it has been the only way for me to truly express my emotions. When I was younger, I was made fun of as a little kid. So when I was in the Sound of Music, I was surrounded by a company that loved me, and I loved them.…

In my elementary school years, my peers bullied me, reason being why I used to be very shy and antisocial; I still am an often quiet and reserved person. Despite that fact, there was something paradoxical of my own personality: I enjoyed performing. Whether it was on-stage with an audience or at home alone, I always had a thing for singing my guts out and dancing like nobody's watching. I still do, but I’ve only realized this now.…

The strengths that I bring to a group are efficiency, meticulousness, approachability, and reliability. I am a good listener, and my mellow and soft spoken personality makes others feel comfortable talking to me. However, one of my biggest weakness is that I am an introvert. I don’t socialize often and my social network is limited to family, a few close and intimate friends, as it generally takes time for me to form relationships. Typically, I am not a conversation-starter, especially with unfamiliar people.…
