Personal Narrative: Persevering The New World

I have probably spent more time gaming and watching others game than sleeping. I have been a gamer for as long as I could articulate memories. The first time I discovered games was like Christopher Columbus discovering the New World; a whole new realm of possibilities. The first thing I said when I got my brand spankin’ new console was “What the heck is this magical rectangle!?” Of course, my understanding of it grew, but not much can compare to the excitement I felt during those first moments. Gaming has taught me many lessons, and caused issues with my school work; especially the game Europa Universails 4 (EU4). For all these reasons, I use one of the key components of grit in my gaming and everyday …show more content…
To begin with, I am a book worm when historical figures are involved. In particular, when I feel bored I search the internet or read my history textbooks in search of intriguing topics. Clearly, my hunt for knowledge would put Captain Ahab to shame. In addition, I attempt to undergo strenuous school courses despite their perceived difficulty. Specifically, instead of taking an online course about lifetime fitness I took the more difficult course about sociology. As you can see, my refusal to back down in the pursuit for knowledge demonstrates my passion for schooling. Furthermore, I take advantage of any extra credit that my teachers present me. To illustrate, after completing a test in my history class Mrs. Ferry offered a worksheet that was extra credit if completed before the next test, so I finished it by the end of the school day. Hence, I used the extra credit as a means to improve my grade and learn more about the current historical event we were learning about. As you can see, my insatiable hunger for knowledge exemplifies a trait pertaining to gritty

In 2016, the games industry has managed to become worth billions of dollars, the games themselves have become more mature and have appealed to wider audiences and communities of millions of people have formed around specific games. My personal experience with gaming comes from my time playing World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role playing game where anyone can create a character and work alongside others to achieve goals like killing certain monsters.
