Cranberry juice & Cinnamon rolls Cranberry juice is just juice. Cinnamon rolls are just a delicious breakfast food, to some people. For me, it’s a walk up the stairs, smelling the icing melt inside the oven, wearing strawberry shortcake pajamas, and listening to Roger Rabbit playing in the distance. Walking upstairs with my small feet stomping on the cold hardwood floors. Watching my grandma take the cinnamon rolls out of the oven and putting them in a baby blue plate, she puts them on the center of the table.…

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

An individual’s character cultivates from personal experiences, failures and life circumstances. Tested through time and still holding true, learning through mistakes remains the valuable way to learn. I personally could begin by saying, this is a story of an addict who ultimately got herself together after 16 years of addiction, except that is not what defines me. Overcoming addiction is a small part of my history, nonetheless it has a place. Moving forward, today at 45, I am a wife, mother, grandmother and a student.…

Empathy is a value that has been instilled in me by my family from a very young age; I have always felt like a natural caretaker and it has driven me to help others in any way possible. As an infant, my father became trapped in a house fire which resulted in significant scarring over 65% of his body and the loss of his right leg. His outlook on life has made me grateful for the gifts I might have taken for granted. These traits and experiences have increased my desire to go into the medical field, but it wasn't until I started my college career that it became clear what my calling was.…

The first person that prayed was a very religious person called Pharisee, they thought their own goodness was so impressive that it could not fail to make them acceptable to God. The Pharisee in the story is the essence of one who is self justifying. He does not ask for forgiveness for his sins, because he believes he has nothing to confess. My parents moved to Dallas before they got married, which was at least ten years before I was born. My whole life I lived six hours away from the rest of my family. As the youngest grandkid, by the time I was old enough to remember, my grandparents were getting too old. It became harder for them to travel, so they rarely came to see my swim meets or orchestra concerts, and on the holidays we had to travel to them. Since I didn’t have extended family close by, my friends became my family.…
