Personal Narrative: Peanut Clusters

Great Essays
It was a cold day early December. We stepped out into the icy tundra and and ran for the car. The inside of the car felt like it was below 0°. As we started on the highway the snow looked so graceful as it fell on the streets and on the passing. My Grandma and I were heading over to my aunt's house to make Christmas candies. Once we were there and inside we got everything set up. The chocolate was melting on the stove, the parchment paper was laid neatly across the table, recipes taped on cabinet doors and ingredients scattered everywhere. We started off with opening the peanuts and making peanut clusters. Those are my favorite. We take handfuls of peanuts and drop them into the smooth creamy chocolate and move them around, so they can get into groups. After they are in groups we carefully take them out and lay them down on parchment paper to harden. We do this for about ten minutes then start on making peanut butter balls. The peanut butter balls are filled with a mixture of peanut …show more content…
My mind was just so lost in thought that I lost track of time. Soon my grandma ripped me from my thoughts and said it was time to go home. We said our goodbyes to my Aunt and cousin and walked to the frozen weather outside. As we were driving home, I realized that today I wasn’t only spending time with my grandma and Aunt, but I was making a future career for myself. I had no clue that morning that I would want to own a bakery, but that day I found out I could make a career out of doing something I love. So when I got home, I started researching culinary and business schools. I found so many colleges that have culinary programs I was amazed. Then I found the college, I have my heart set on going to. That was until I found a recipe on how to make some chocolate chip cookies and said, “I can totally do this!” an hour and a half later, (yes ... I struggled) and with some guidance of my mother, a batch of cookies popped out of the oven. I was scared at first to let anybody try them because they looked quite horrid, but as soon as the first daredevil, my older brother, tried this twelve-year-old’s cookies he immediately smiled, shoved the remaining cookie into his mouth, and grabbed another two.…

As just an 18-year-old, it is next to impossible to know what you want to do with the rest of your life. I had always known I wanted to work in the fashion industry, but I wanted to go into the business side of it, while still being heavily involved in the exciting parts of the industry. I decided to take on a difficult quest and attend the University of Mississippi, majoring in Integrating Marketing Communications, and hoping to one-day intern in and later move to New York, New York. My quest is very similar to Corliss’ quest in The Search Engine as she plans to leave the Spokane Indian Reservation to pursue a college education in writing, which is unheard of in her culture and looked down upon in a way by her family. And while our quests…

This 3rd nine weeks we did Entrepreneurship, I learned many knowledgeable things about being an entrepreneur in America or in the real world. Our company was Marvelous Mousse, it was a delectable, sweet, and savory dessert made with a graham cracker crumble, mousse, topped with whipped cream and Hershey chocolate shavings. The mousse consists of heavy whipping cream and either chocolate or strawberry syrup. My all around favorite part of the project was making the mousse.…

A bit about me…I like to think I am smart, funny and easy going. I am told I am anyway. I am not one of those people that gets upset when I am cut off in traffic or get angry over bad service. Sure these things can be aggravating but life is way too short to be angry about petty things. I like meeting new people and genuinely like hearing about their life adventures.…

I've never really been a good loser, but then again who is? These past several weeks on the volleyball team have really helped me to recognize the difference between good friends and great friends. My friends are just as extreme when it comes to winning as I am and the ones who are just as crazy as me. Plus the ones who put up with me yelling, screaming my head off, and getting mad at them, and are still friends with me after the games. These are my great friends, the friends that I know I can always count on.…

Spreading the Gospel, One Sweatshirt at a Time All sorts of clichés and euphemisms exist that tell us every day how small and insignificant a single human being truly is in this incomprehensibly vast world. This knowledge has shaped the perception I’ve held from an impressionable child, until I experienced a chance encounter in the halls of my high school in Virginia. I come from a graduating class of 356 students I was one of only two Latter-day Saints in my entire high school, and now I am just another face in the crowd of countless LDS. However, a single event related directly to my faith has shown me the power that one individual can have in this world.…

We were all so hungry that we ordered room service, while my brothers were in the pool with their friends. As I sat impatiently waiting for the food, I watched all of the cars pass by.
