Personal Narrative-Pawpaw

It’s a bright autumn morning that consists of brilliant colors, crisp leaves that crunch beneath my feet and the air just cool enough for a light jacket. The holidays are finally here and saying that I am absolutely thrilled would be an understatement. It is my favorite time of year! My stomach begins to growl with hunger in anticipation of what tomorrow will bring. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I realize a feast is in store for me. The air mattress I have been sleeping on is very comfortable which makes it extra difficult to open my eyes. All the while, Nina is shouting and clacking her cane on the floor in an attempt to wake me up. Her failed attempts quickly vanish when I begin to smell the wonderful aroma of homemade biscuits and …show more content…
The scenery is breathtaking, the air crisp and clean. From a distance, Nathaniel and Jason are drifting in the field and tearing up the grass, waiting to receive the wrath of Pawpaw. Danny is riding the dirt bike, setting himself up for a trip to the hospital. I walk over near the storage building where Pawpaw keeps old “stuff “he never uses anymore. I stand still, squinting my eyes as a result of the glistening, luminous sun. All of a sudden, I see Danny racing towards me. He stops at my feet and revs his engine again, only to let go of his grip on the handle and seize any chance I have of shifting away before he runs me over; which he succeeds to …show more content…

The small talk in the kitchen wanders to the local cemetery. Despite my latest injuries, I decide to go with the clan to observe it. We huddle up in the relatively small trailer attached to the four wheeler and proceed to the cemetery that is parallel to the church. I begin to pace around the grave, careful not to step on the head stones, since I’ve heard it’s seven years of bad luck or something similar to that. Eventually, we arrive back to the entrance of the ranch and I notice a flare in the near distance, directly in front of the storage building. The sun is beginning to set behind the rust-colored trees and Gage finally has the fire going, containing vibrant flames and a plethora of sticks. Danny puts together an old speaker and connects it to his phone where he plays my favorite song by Cody Johnson. The stars become more visible and as the fire starts to slowly burn out, my friends and I proceed back inside to the command of Nina’s

She was simply asleep. After finding a pillow for her head, I left her to enjoy it. (37) MY SATURDAY MORNINGS WERE RESERVED for Christina Heal: a devoutly religious woman who might have been older than Jesus Christ himself with a pear shaped body and hazel eyes that once twinkled upon hearing my stories. It was a particularly warm day for fall in New York; so I decided to stroll down to Ms. Heal’s office on Forty-Fourth Street. The sun glistened in the sky and the children playing baseball in the park reminded me of my conversation about baseball books with Holly from the other night at her party.…
