Personal Narrative: Panic

Improved Essays
“If you can see me stop moving.” The words come into my head from seemingly nowhere. I spin around confused trying to find the source. “Where are you? I need you to show yourself!” my voice sounded pleading. Nothing came back to me as I looked around. Then a sudden crash came from above me, as my foot moved over a tile in the floor. Suddenly, a barbed crude cage fell around me. Sharpe points jutting from every angle, the bars looked like scrap thrown together. As I look closer I can see that parts of the cage are made of bone. Panic starts to set in and my breath quickens. My hands fumble around the cage gently to avoid the edges to try to find a loose part to break out from. I’m trapped, how did this happen, who called to me. Thoughts racing

I evoke waking up every 5 minutes checking my blue IPod to see the time. Every time I woke up I would look outside my gelid, frosted window and see the sky darken to a faint violent. As the sky lightens, I would awaken even more. Just as the clock hit 7:30 A.M. sharp my alarm went off, “beep, beep, beep” desiring that I had gotten more sleep. I had opened my eyes like I had 50 cups of coffee, and jumping out of bed like a deer running from its predator.…

After watching some gameplay videos for the new ps4 game Until Dawn, I was reminded of a strange term I had once heard, the butterfly effect. Upon seeing this, I decided to do some research to find out more about it. The Chaos theory more commonly called the butterfly effect summarized by Edward Lorenz is a branch of mathematics that deals with complex systems whose behaviour is highly sensitive to slight changes in conditions, so that small alterations can give rise to strikingly great consequences. With this, I thought a many life decisions that I had made, both large and small and thought of how they affected my life and how different my life would be if I had chosen to take another path. I am a Christian and with further thought, came to…

The Arrival I had originally planned to travel to Rio on September 5th through September 12th. A perspicacious and experienced hunter named Rainsford accompanied me. It was nighttime when I first spotted land of any sort. It was vaguely visible and was opaque, so misty that even Rainsford couldn’t see it. Utterly tired, I began drifting off, dreaming of the adventures we were soon to face.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

I don’t think that something as extreme as mass hysteria could take place simply because no one wanted to think for themselves. Rather than people agreeing with a leader because they feel like it, I think people worry about an idea and “flock to follow” a leader because they don’t know what actions to take about the problem themselves. If someone offers a solution to a problem that they’re not sure how to fix, then they’re more likely to concede and follow that person. If someone didn’t care to think for themselves, then I don’t see why they would care to make any decision of that regard in the first place.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…
