In order to write the plan, we had to know exactly what we want to write and how. However, when we actually started to write the essay, all the hard work was worth it, it took us less time and effort since everything was ready. We just needed to extend the plan. We actually work with the plan all the way on. It was surprising how much it helped us.

Pair work

It was October 16, 2012. I was in seventh grade, just a boy to become someone or something. We were loading the bus with our two coaches, Coach Voss and Coach Larh. Coach Voss the offensive coach who liked to make us run, and coach larh, our Defensive coach who taught me everything I known about the defensive side of the ball. This was a big game for me and my fellow teammates this game was going to set the tone for the rest of the season to show that we can be successful.…

The idea of being told that I had to work for the first time made me want to eat glass; but could it possibly have turned out for the better? In England, when you reach 10th grade you participate in a nationally accepted program called 'Work Experience'. ' Work Experience' is when you work just like you would if you were legally an adult except with this program it only lasts a week. After 2 weeks of tireless searching I landed a job at Ariya Capital; an experienced developer and investor in clean energy and infrastructure projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It was actually much more advanced than any job I ever thought of getting.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

In my collaboration assignment, I faced a few challenges, but I also learned many things. When I went looking for inspiration for a subject that would inspire me, I found an article about traces of antibiotics in the environment. It interested me, and I thought that it might be a good article to use. I researched for more information, and I found another article about antibiotic resistance. It explained how bacteria in the natural environment had a resistance to antibiotics.…

He showed me that with every argument comes a counter argument; adding a counter argument reinforced my argument greatly. Another technique I applied to my essays with Professor Castro’s instruction was planning. In high school, planning an essay seemed like a waste of time because the assignments were always just five paragraph, five sentence essays. Since we had to write these essays in such a short amount of time for tests, I was able to produce the work the night before. On the other hand, Professor Castro has shown the divergence between high school and college; planning and editing are two essential steps in writing.…

Over the first semester I feel I have been appropriately challenged in the area of writing we have done this year. I learned many new skills, but the most important one involves English and how to write properly. As for the first writing, I really did not understand what was right and what was wrong. Because I never paid close attention to specific rules in how to write. I truly believe it has been hard for me.…

Two writing goals that I have for next semester are wording my sentences better and not continually repeating myself in my paper. I want to use better words in my sentences to make the sentence more powerful and I can do that by looking at words in the dictionary. I can read over my work to make sure I do not repeat myself and if I do I can change my sentence. Forming sentences are very important but also the way in which it is presented so I have to be able to make the sentence understandable and meaningful in the place where I use it.…

Every Thursday at 3:30pm I get into my dad's Air Force blue, 2005 Ford Explorer, and I am filled with a nausea of excitement. My anticipation cuts through the mixture of country music and old rock ‘n’ roll filling in the car. I am aware that once we park the car at 220 Geiger Road in front of Doc Bresler’s Cavity Busters, that I will be forced to overcome a new obstacle. As a child I was always intellectually curious, musically inclined, athletically challenged, and hungry.…

Introduction My life has been a non-linear journey, weaving the places I lived, the people I’ve met, the things I’ve learned and the experiences I created into the fabric of who I am. From a young age, I had an affinity for art; envisioning ideas, creating through my hands, executing projects, there wasn’t some form of the fine arts that I didn’t dabble in. It wasn’t until my senior year in high school that I interviewed for the BOCES Cultural Arts Center in Syosset, a program that fosters the arts at the collegiate level for high school students, that I had a turning point in my academic learning. Foregoing the necessary math requirements in my senior year to make room for this program in my schedule, I transitioned from a student’s role as…
