Personal Narrative: Pacific Tides

On February 19th, I attended the 2017 Epcot International Festival of the Arts located in the World Showcase of Epcot Park, Disney World Florida. This outdoor gala encompassed an array of fine arts exhibited under fine white tents along the World Showcase’s walking paths. As I strolled along the pathway, I came across one particular framed photograph that captured my interest. It was a large digital photo of an under view of a pier and it was titled, “Pacific Tides” by Carlos Cuba. As I gazed at this piece, I began to admire the serenity the print inspired within me. All of a sudden to my left, the artist, Carlos Cuba asked me if I like his creation.
I had the upmost please to speak with Mr. Cuba for over thirty minutes regarding many topics.

Larson uses repetition and suspenseful diction to convey a sardonic tone. The repetition of “could” affirms Holme’s domination over his weak victim; this amplifies how he has the power and control to choose whatever method deemed worthy of dealing with Anna. This repetition along with “if” generates anticipation in the audience of whether Holmes will pursue this method or something far worse. The uncertainty of Holmes’ actions engages readers and makes them question whether Holmes has the humanity to let Anna live. “Last moment” and “last few seconds” imply that Holmes will choose his technique at the last instant, creating more suspense.…

Growing up in Hawaii, you're faced with multiple fun opportunities. For my self born in Kamuela of the Big island, being in the center of the island opened up many doors to many different activities. I grew up on a long narrow road that had many bumps and pot holes up and down the entire road. At the top of the road there was a small grade hill that I would bomb with a skateboard. My house was about three quarters the way down the road.…

A metaphor to thoroughly interpret my own cultural identity would be the coconut delicacy known as Haupia. Not only for its elegant perplexion, but for the soft clouded stature that belongs to this alien creature, which taste is only permitted to the fortunate few occupying the native islands of Hawaii. Another perplex root in the tree of my culture is Lei-making. The breathtaking row of an aligned set of flowers to form the Lei is one of the prime connections to the base of the hawaiian culture by contributing to the ancient craft itself. A more well-known phenomenon that had one of its origins among the islands of Hawaii and is still dwelled upon to this day is surfing.…

The sun shone brightly above the skyscrapers and smog-filled skies. The city pertains great industrious work along with its notorious reputation of malfeasance. Since childhood, I would always look to the sun as a beacon of hope not just for this city, moreover for this peculiar consciousness of the world. Looking away from the sun walking towards town I notice an immense amount of virtually lifeless people that lie on the roadways that continue to spread towards the city's abandoned buildings causing the buildings further dilapidation becoming known as a lost zone. Before the island emerged the city was once a bright and beautiful place, nevertheless I was merely an infant when the island first came to surface so I am unable to experience…
