Personal Narrative: Overcoming Obstacles In My Life

Improved Essays
Many obstacles have matured me throughout my life. Just in the past year I have had numerous setbacks and hardships. These things have caused me some real trouble. Anyone who knew me last year knows that I dropped pretty low. The worst thing I have ever been through was last year when I had an abundance of depression problems. Yes I know, I do not seem at all like I have suffered from depression. Last year I had some trouble with one of my teachers. I will not mention his name, however I will say that I can happily say that I will never have a football coach as a teacher again. This teacher made it so hard for me to succeed in school. I have no clue what leads people to heckle kids in the band, but apparently we have many people in our school that take pride in it. I had to listen to this teacher pester me all semester. Accompanying this teacher there were various students that did the same thing. Again, why is it a thing for jocks to be the rudest students in the school. I have always heard that you do not judge a book by its cover, so I try not to do that. I will always give any sports …show more content…
Most people would think that it was a time I just need to forget. I would disagree. These troubles brought me to know Jesus. Anytime I had a problem I would go to my bible and read verses to make myself feel better. Knowing that you have someone who will love you no matter what you look like is a great feeling. Jesus is how I survive in this terrible world. I look back on this situation and I think why was I worrying about what other people thought about my life. I live my life for one person only. I love to share my story with other people. It encourages them to seek a life with Jesus. I certainly am happy all of that happened. Now I am leading the worship band at my church. I am happy to be living my life by Jesus. There are so many people that I can thank for this new life. God is who I live for and I am happy that I have

Overcoming my Struggles As a little boy, going to bed was the best part of the night. It is when your eyes are hanging low and you are doing everything you can to stay awake to hear a story that your mother reads to you before she tucks you in bed. Hearing and understanding words as a little boy was not that hard for me. I could comprehend words and say them, but as I started to go to school my parents knew something was not right. In my opinion, my struggles with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) continue to be a challenge with the struggles I had before I found out about my diagnoses, finding out about my Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) changing the way I did things, and continuing to overcome my challenges I have with Attention Deficit…

Thriving Through Adversity Growing up, as the oldest of three girls, I soon developed a sense of entitlement that, in the years to come, I would find did not suit me well. Fortified by the nurturing nature of my mother, I, being the strong willed, independent, and self righteous child I was, found that the ebb and flow needed in aiding the fresh wounds left by the separation of my parents was far less attainable than the easily reachable strategy, that I oftentimes fell back on, known as distancing myself from all that made me feel vulnerable. Not having a strong father figure in my life has helped to shape me not only as a student, a writer, a daughter, or a sister, but a person. Most would view this situation negatively but I choose to…

The first time in my 18 years on this earth that I can say that I really experienced failure was during my freshman year of high school when I tried out for the basketball team. I came into my freshman year of high school thinking I was very prepared for freshman basketball. I thought I was prepared because I had played aau basketball previously for multiple summers and had known and played multiple times against the guys I was competing with for a spot. Well I thought wrong because during the first day of practice I was surprised by the intensity and realized I was out of shape. The first day of practice shocked me because the intensity of the practice was something that I had never experienced before.…

Growing up, everyone has some sort of obstacles. “If we choose to see the obstacles in our path as barriers, we stop trying… However, if we choose to see the obstacles as hurdles, we can leap over them” (Carson). Vision is the experience of of seeing someone or something in a dream or chance, or as a supernatural apparition. I 'm in the well being of my life currently.
