Improved Essays
Over Christmas Break I went to Bloomington, Indiana. My dad, and my brother and I stayed for two days when we were originally going to stay for four days. In Bloomington we went to look at the differents University buildings and labs. I wish we would have stayed longer becuase we could have done more. We also went to see the apartment that my dad stayed in during college. My Dad, and my Brother, and I stayed in a Hotel that was used for students and visitors. In the Hotel, there was a bookstore, a starbucks, and a burger king. During the time we stayed in Bloomington, we watched the IU basketball game that was at Wisconsin. While we watched the game we ate in a restaurant called Nick's English Hut. We

Lake of the Ozarks, MO This year, me and my family went to the amazing Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. We went for six days and even though it doesn't seem like that long, we got a lot of things in. We got to swim, go boating, go out to eat, and go shopping. This will have been the sixth time we have gone with my aunt and uncle and one year, our grandparents even came with us! Lake of the Ozarks is my favorite place to go.…

I miss them already. Despite the freezing cold snow and the nipping air, we had a lovely Christmas break. As I inspect my child, now grown with children of her own, holding tickets back to their home, longing envelopes me. Hoards of people push past, unaware of my pain, on their own schedules and heading toward different trains, talking and texting on their cell phones. My family boards, time as if in slow-motion, and waves goodbye until I see them again.…

Reframing my Mind for Break Going home for break is one of the most nerve wrecking things for me. I know I 'm going to be around the same people who cause me to slip up. Year Round Around Christmas everything was usually all rowdy in the airport. You saw a big bright tree, you’d hear bells ringing, kids singing, jolly music playing, and you’d even smell sweets. However, this year was different, you heard lockers slamming, footsteps of anxious businessmen, elevator doors closing, and no music. The tree in the lobby was dull with one single gold star, and yellow flickered lights that indicated they weren’t going to last.…

I took a vacation to Italy. There was a lot of beautiful scenery, wonderful food, and so much more. I visited Rome, Venice, and Florence, went to the beaches, ate lots of Italian food, and went June 18-25th so it would not be too hot or too cold. First, I had to figure out what all I needed for my trip to Italy, I discovered I had to get a passport to even enter the country.” Passports should have at least six months remaining validity beyond your departure date.…

Christmas break in my opinion is probably the second best brake that we have throughout our school year. The main thing I like about Christmas break is how long it is. But even though I like how long we are off school it's almost like we don't have a break because basketball takes over. We get a few days off but the rest of the days are hitting the gym early in the mornings for two to three hours a day. The days I have is the best thing in the world because I get to relax and do something fun for once.…

on Boxing Day, then his wife said you’re never going to get a hotel this late so why don’t you stay here Christmas night, ( it was very hard for me to not show my disbelief in this crazy idea ) Wally had a smug look on his face, when she saw it she said don’t think your be sleeping with ether one of us you can sleep on the sofa and Donna can sleep in with me, best if you come round first thing in the morning then Michael’s then the children can all open there presents together then you can take them to her sisters spend the rest of the day with the children then pick them up at 8pm then you will be here for Boxing Day, I was in complete shock I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing, (maybe she expected her marriage was over and was making the best of a bad situation) we drove back to Milton Keynes we decided that we would open our presents the day after Boxing Day so gathered a small amount of Michael presents to take with us and all the food that we had got in for our Christmas dinner that we were going to have on Boxing Day we took to give it to my sister, So early Christmas morning we drove to Hayes and we arrived at her house and knocking on the door I had My outfit on a hanger when she opened the door the expression on her face just said it all I said can I hang this somewhere to which she said not…

Growing up with a ranching family means we rarely get time off from work or school to do fun or exciting things like ordinary families. When any opportunities come for us to go on small trips, we take them. With that, for the past ten years my dad has made vacation an annual occurrence. Vacation for us represents getting a “reward” for having a successful year of work and school year. Vacation is also a time where my entire family and I can wind down and relax for a week without having to worry if the cows had gotten out or if we had remembered to turn off the pivots to water the crops.…

The fateful day that I decided to keep my anxiety in check began my quest to find the holy grail of knowledge. On my journey, dozens of friends told me that I just needed to take a “break.” They bragged that they grasp this amazing power that allows them to easily shut their teary eyes, calm their beating hearts, and rest their weary heads at night until they felt renew in the morning. As I progress down my quest, I realize that the easiest actions in the world are sometimes the most difficult. Despite the difficulties of overcoming any mental strain, I strongly urge everyone to understand that the possibilities of a person achieving a healthy, stress-free lifestyle still exist.…
