Out of Town
The bell rang, and that meant it was summer! My heart was beating so fast, I was so excited to finally be on summer vacation. The stress of finals left my shoulders and the heat of baseball season began. I drove home through the school traffic, which was insane, and when I arrived home my parents were packing the car and they told me to go get changed, I put some shorts on and a hoodie and on we went to my first out of town baseball tournament. The tournament was in Michigan City, Indiana so we had a bit of drive ahead of us. My family and I, followed by the rest of my teammates were headed the AAA World Series Classic that we were invited to. It was a four day tournament and our team was ready to go, we were pumped and wanted

On our first day we got off to a decent start winning in extras innings three to two. I had a single, a double, and two RBI’s, while our third run was scored by our fasted kid Logan bunting, then stealing two bases all the way to third base. Logan later scored on a passed ball that went all the way in the dirt on a ‘walk off’. On the second day, Friday, we went 0-2 being blown out in both games and only scoring a total of three runs, while we let up eighteen runs. I played poorly, I went 2-6 with two singles, I also had 2 errors behinf the plate. On the third day we only had one game and a parade. We were playing with nine players because our back up catcher quit because of how poorly we did on Friday. In the sixth inning some tall guy hit my left forearm on his back swing, I screeched in pain, and reaching for air, I could not even call time out. We had no one else so I had to get this last out because we exceeded our time limit and the game would be over. The next batter bunted and I was forced to go make a play, I ran out towards the third base foul line, picked up the ball, and made a nice solid throw to Tyler, our first baseman. At this point my arm was not throbbing and I thought I was fine, but I soon found out it was just my adrenaline, but when my adrenaline calmed down my arm felt like it was being grinded in a meat grinder. We arrived back to our fantastic hotel and I did not want to leave, I felt like I was in paradise but I

During that very special baseball game I was beasting at shortstop. Every time a ball was hit my way I would either catch it or scoop it up off the ground depending on what type of hit it was but if the ball came my way my fans already knew what was going to happen. My fans already knew that I was going to get the batter out or get a double play and most of the time I did. It felt so great knowing that I helped my team achieve excellence and earn victories. My team had a very strong and unstoppable defense and if it wasn't for our teamwork, we wouldn't have had such a successful season.…

The highlight for the Cubs that day was Aramis Ramirez the third baseman for the Cubs who hit a homerun* that game. Other than that the Cubs lost that game and I didn’t care because all I could think of was going to run the bases. So after the game I went now to field level I looked around imagining someday if I could play on this field. I remember feeling the padded wall down the right field wall and looking at the visiting bullpen mounds.…

I was on a trip to Dodge City for a baseball tournament. It wasn’t a long trip in my mind, most of the baseball players stayed in the same hotel called the Dodge House. It’s a really nice hotel it doesn’t look like on the outside, but wait till you go inside. In the center of the hotel it’s a big open space, it has a half court basketball, has volleyball, it even has arcade games to play, but they cost money to play, it has a weight room, it has a hot tud and a pool with two slides and has a place for seating to have a little party it’s fun I recommend this place if you ever go to Dodge City.…
