I awaken early, and tiptoe around my softly sleeping sister over to the window. With the sleeve of my nightgown, I clear off the fog on my window, and open it wide, leaning out into a chilly world. The breeze whips around me, as I take a deep breath of fresh air. However, I can't help feeling strange. Every day I sit this window, and watch to the dawn turn to day, but today the sky doesn't hypnotize me and take into a dreamland. The purple and blue-ish gray sky somehow seems drab, and sorrowful. Even the birds don't seem to be singing their normally cheerful song. Something is off, but I just can't put my finger on it. I temporarily push the weird thoughts away, and get dressed, trying to focus on the day ahead, but on I trip to town to the bakery, everywhere I keep hearing …show more content…
I hate eavesdrop, but I had to know. Out of nowhere, an anger boils up in my veins. It's not only this new tax that is making me angry, it's every tax that they have already put on us, and the fact that Britain thinks we are their own personal bank. Don't they understand that we have lives to take car of too. Can't they see we can't just be throwing money to a cause that doesn't directly affect us. Plus, I'm a partly angry at my parents, why didn't they say anything to me, I'm not a baby, did they think I wouldn't understand? I storm into the room, looking into my parents' eyes, “Why didn't anyone tell me?” I question them. My mother jumps, surprise spreading across her face, “Have you been their all that – ” “I'm old enough now for you to tell me what is going on without having to secretly listen,” I continue My father's voice is firm and stern, “Henrietta, you should be in bed. How dare you raise your tone at your mother, and be listening outside the door. Straight to bed, and I don't want another

I remember when the world was a better place. I may only be eleven years old, but the latest breakthrough in technology, the one that doomed mankind, only happened three years ago. That's when Harvard University developed a fully-functional AI robot. It was only so long until they took over jobs, and unemployment became an issue for the human race. The thing is, everyone thinks that they can just find another job, and everything will be normal again.…

I evoke waking up every 5 minutes checking my blue IPod to see the time. Every time I woke up I would look outside my gelid, frosted window and see the sky darken to a faint violent. As the sky lightens, I would awaken even more. Just as the clock hit 7:30 A.M. sharp my alarm went off, “beep, beep, beep” desiring that I had gotten more sleep. I had opened my eyes like I had 50 cups of coffee, and jumping out of bed like a deer running from its predator.…

The Delusive Dramatist from Myslenice The girl sat in the corner of the train car, she rotated from rocking herself back and forth in a fetal position and singing to herself softly. Every once in awhile she would pull out her notebook and scribble in it, only when she was sure that no one else was looking, or so she thought. All hours of the day she spoke to herself, setting a tense scene, I could feel the lies as she spoke them, nothing she told herself was true. She knew it, I knew it, but it seemed to be the only thing she had left.…

'Where's Tyson?' was a question I caught myself asking every morning before school. My mom would let our little dog out to play, and on most days before you knew it we were outside looking for him. But, on this Wednesday morning something was off... my mom looked a bit more worried, my dad seemed nowhere to be found, and our other dog, Maizie, was already inside. This confused my fourth grade mind as I always knew Tyson and Maizie worked as a team, and when one came back inside, the other followed.…

Today is going to be just like any other day, I sketched in my morning journal. The morning Baltimore sun shone past the skyscrapers of downtown, and light protruded through the silk blinds that covered half of the picture window in my room. I rose up from my queen bed. The sheets had become untucked and the comforter lay halfway off the edge. My back rested against the mahogany headboard with my head fitting perfectly between two of the wooden posts.…

After flinging my school bag onto my back in an angry manner, i left my empty casing of a family home slamming the door behind me. Usually at this point I would walk the family gremlin to school because sadly we went to the same one, but the daily argument happened 20 minutes before scheduled so she wasn't even ready yet, luckily. I was now in my element. Music on, world off. I went along the same route, passing all the same oak trees, taking all the right roads as per normal.…

On a Thursday evening coming home from school just another hot day in Moreno Valley as I lazily walked up the stairs to my room I suddenly was enabled to stand, so I laid down my bed feeling the sun light coming out the window burning my left side of my body. My sister Ana and her friend were next room right next to mine listening to their abhorrent lyrics they called music. A couple of months ago before moving into this gorgeous house the prefect home I always dreamt or any other kid who grew up in family of a working class getting the chance to live in a marvelous home the kind you see in movies. When my parents told me that we were moving a couple of miles away from where I used to live I didn’t understand the reason that all of the sudden I did not wanted to move away. From all the times I dreamt to get out of there and live in a perfect family and a great home.…

It was April 4th, and as I looked into the blinding lights over my head, I anxiously waited for the anesthetics to take hold of me. The sooner I’m knocked out, the sooner I’ll wake up, and the sooner I can get out of here. I blinked and realized that the masked men above me had begun to spin in and out of eyesight, so I allowed the drugs to sweep me away as I tried to hold on to the vision of friends, and track meets, and the sweet sixteen soon to come. I vaguely wondered if my sisters had arrived at the hospital yet, and whether or not Mr. Zinnel would give me an extension on the Of Mice and Men worksheet due tomorrow. I woke up hoping against rationality that I was still in my bed at home; however, the bright lights penetrating my closed eyes and the stiff sheets under my…

The hand that came across her face could have been the wind blowing for the effect it had shown on the now reddened cheek. Well, if that wasn’t going to get things started on the right foot, the DVDs would. After the first one of the Band Leader was shown then came the one of Eldred and his mother. By the look in her eyes, the one of the boy and his mother was just as effective as her warming the child’s face to get her attention. This said much and none of it was good.…

“AURÉLIE, COME ON OR YOU'LL BE LATE!!!!”my mother rushed into my bedroom with super human speed, trying to get me out of bed. Today was the day that i was going to America. Mother and I had heard all sorts of things from the neighbors about a place called Ellis island about how heavenly the place was said to be, and about how bad it could be If one was to say the wrong thing. Me and mother barely had enough to support ourselves, so it took quite a while before we were able to get enough money to go. Even though mother had to work more than 2 jobs , and I the same, it took almost a year to earn an equivalence of what of what it would be for only one person to ride in 3rd class.…
