Personal Narrative: Oro Azteca Mexican Restaurant

Decent Essays
I tried to make a reservation for Oro Azteca Mexican Restaurant but they quit taking group reservations since people do not show up and when they show up only two people show up. Reserving tables hurt their business due to the amount of no show or wrong head count information. Therefore, in order for us to sit together we need to be the first one at the door. Restaurant opens at 1100. My advice is for me to get a head count first of everyone that is going to attend and for us to do our best to depart from USFF together so when we get there we can sit together as a group.

On Thursday, June 15th, I parked in the 4 hour parking area on Everett Street in El Cerrito, near the El Cerrito Plaza Bart Station, in order to take BART to the Warriors Parade in downtown Oakland. I first attempted to park at the BART station, but the lot was full. I parked just before 10:00am and caught the train from El Cerrito Plaza to Lake Merritt Station to catch the parade near the end. It took about 30 minutes to get from where I parked to where I watched the parade (21 minute BART Ride). The parade began at 10:00am ended around 12:30pm.…

For my final cultural report, I ate dinner with my family at Gran Ranchero, an authentic Mexican restaurant in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The first thing I noticed about the restaurant was the décor. There were sombreros, maracas, and murals of homes and people in Mexico on the walls on the restaurant. There was also traditional Mexican music being played in the restaurant. Our waiter us gave our greeting in Spanish and then translated it into English.…

The first place I visited is in downtown Geneva, a restaurant called Sergio’s Cantina. The elements of folk culture evident is the food and the atmosphere. The main ingredients in the dishes served are corn, chiles, and beans, which are also the heart of most Mexican dishes. Tortillas, or “thin, round, pancakes,” are also served, as they are the most important part of the meal. Also, the restaurant was painted in bright colors and had tequila, a very popular drink in Mexico, advertised.…

I would put Mexican restaurants in their own food group. I eat, pray, and live for Mexican food. It is to the point that my friends and family do not even need to ask me where I want to go for dinner; they know I will be okay with any Mexican restaurant. Two of my many favorites are Margarita House and Los Tres Amigos. You cannot go wrong with either restaurant, but there are a few factors that contribute good and bad to each one.…
