At the Puget Sound beach, Patricia found me, a very old wooden horse. I was brushed up and scratched because of the sand. I flowed with the ocean for so long. It was nice that someone found me so I could be taken care of. When we went back to where Patricia lived in Seattle, she washed me up and polished me. I looked brand new! After that she placed me into a drawer for “safe keepings”. The day of December 17th 2008 she pulled me out of the drawer and we went on a walk. We were at Pike Place Market when the snow started to fall. It was light at first but then picked up extremely. We had to go back to her house. Thankfully we only lived a couple of miles away from her home so we walked home. As the snow started to accumulate, there were many …show more content…
It finally stopped a couple of days later. Patricia had to use a shovel and smash the snow out of the door We were out of food and firewood. All of the roads were closed and most of the stores were as well. We decided to go an extravagant journey to try and find an open store, we finally found an open store, A target in Downtown Seattle. The stores lines were immense! And were almost out of stock in everything. As we were on our way home, people started fighting over food as everything started selling out. Someone approached Patricia and asked if he could have some food. She said no and the dude started throwing hands at her. In a last hope of defense, Patricia threw me at the dude, he caught me, and took off. Of course I was very sad and disappointed because Patricia took great care of me, but that's behind me now. I have a new owner, his name is Allen. He actually lives on the other side of Seattle from Patricia. He has his own special place for me with a bed. It's very comfortable. He has lots of food for himself and seems to be a good person. He took me with him to go get some firewood. Snow started to pour again. The snow was even heavier this time. We needed firewood to keep the house warm or Allen would freeze to

I signed up for Free Store, and the number of hours required for this CSL placement is 30 hours with 25 hours of volunteering and 5 hours of writing papers. I contacted Frédérique Rivet to set up my placement, and I attended the first meeting with Frédérique Rivet and other volunteers. In our first meeting, we introduced to each other, and we also exchange some of our ideas about sustainability. Including the meeting time, I have completed four hours and half so far.…

It was the afternoon of November 31st, snow freshly on the ground. My dad and I drove to our property, ready to see some deer. Once I arrived at the property, I jumped out of the truck and put on all my gear. You could smell the freshness of the snow, and could almost feel the bitterness in the air. I put on my gloves, and grabbed my gun.…

It was a cold bitter night on the 1st of December in 2012. I decided to try out a new hunting spot for the first time. I knew that it was going to be much colder because i did not have any walls around me to protect me from the brutally cold wind. The temperature gauge read a bone chilling 5 degrees, and i knew that it was only going to get worse as the day came to an end. I made sure to wear extra clothes and to dress in layers for the long five hours that I have ahead of me sitting up against a tree.…

The first time I ever shot a deer came as a tremendous surprise to me. It happened about four years ago. I had hunted for a while before that, but that was the first year that I actually took it seriously and I got my gun safety license so I could shoot. It was the second weekend in rifle season, so it was empty in the woods and quiet.…

As a kid, I had no responsibilities other than school, and sometimes sports. I was fortunate enough to not have to do chores, or have a job at an early age. I essentially, could manage my time how I pleased; playing Xbox, baseball, being on my phone whenever, as long as I kept my grades up and wasn't in trouble. My parents gave me this privilege, because they knew what a well-behaved kid I was, and somehow trusted that my Dad’s work ethic would eventually just naturally rub off on me when the time was right. Although my experience sounds great, I felt empty, because I wasn't doing anything productive.…

“Shes coming back right?” a baffled 7 year old asks in response to the appalling news of her mother’s death. A vibrant imagination is accompanied by a crushing pain of reality that trails behind it ; I discovered this when I heard the words “no” . 10 years later, that conversation lingers in my head and holds not a cacophonous nor euphonious sound, but instead holds the neutral tone of reality, an alarm . As routine , at 6a.m., I hear a melodious alarm followed by the pitter-patter of my aunt who is getting ready for work.…

Having a community where you can lean back on is one of the most important things that I have had in my life. The community I have always been involved in is sports but the one that impacted me the most was a community called drop-in soccer. The Trip to the Grocery Store I haven’t seen him in weeks or maybe even months, I thought as I glared across the small distance between where I was standing and my dad’s car. With my One Direction CD clutched in my hands, I started to close the distance by walking towards his car. I opened the door and slipped in, and then he started to drive to the grocery store. At the time I was under the illusion that my dad would be even slightly happy to see me, but no.…
