Personal Narrative: One Of The Best Music Schools

What excites me about Northwestern is not only the beautiful campus, but the established students and faculty. Purple is currently my favorite color and I already feel as if I am a wildcat at heart. I know Northwestern is the school for me because I am unable to go a day without thinking about Northwestern and all of the opportunities that Northwestern University has to offer. The Bienen School of music is known as one of the top music schools in the nation. I would be honored to be accepted into this institution as a transfer student. What I look for in an institution is integrity which will help students reach a certain standard. Another thing I look for is the quality of teaching which allows students to build an individual relationship

Adrenaline ran through my veins all day, and Disney references spilling out of my mouth like a broken record in a player. No one else accepted my elation, but I on the other hand, had a countdown down for this jaunt as soon as I heard of it in August. As I sat down on the dirty, sweaty gym floor like the rest of the band, I began to process everything that was happening. In 26 hours, 48 minutes, and 28 seconds, according to my countdown, the entire high school band would be in Orlando, Florida. In four days time, our provincial marching band would be featured marching in a parade in the Magic Kingdom of the happiest place on earth!…

For all of my life, building close relationships has been the key to my success. I form relationships successfully in a small, comfortable setting. In school, classrooms are an accessible way for myself to accomplish this with my teacher. For every teacher I was close to, the class I had with them was my top class. One of the main reasons I chose Clarkson College was because I admired it was a private college with a limited student to teacher ratio.…

The summer of 2013 I attended the Summer Vocal Music Intensive at East Carolina University (ECU SVMI). This was one of the most enlightening experiences of my life. To get a taste of what life as a music major was like as an incoming high school freshman was magnificent. In 2014 I had really begun to fall in love with the program. Different moments of our lives change us and shape us into the man or woman whom one day we will become. One moment that changed me was when I got my first instrument. When I was accepted to Michigan State University it was hands down the easiest decision to come here.…

Why I Sing Chaeley Winkler I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t singing. Of course, I know there was time before I could speak or burble as infants do, so there must have existed a certain silence before sound, however the mere thought of being so silent—unable to reach out with voice or touch—disturbs me to no end. But these thoughts of a time before sound hadn’t quite crossed my mind until I began to question the finer, tinier oddities in my life. These questions emerged at around the age of seven, before they had manifested as inner thoughts.…

In sixth grade I joined the chamber orchestra at my school. We met friday mornings before school, and played harder literature than the regular orchestra. This undoubtedly helped me become a better violinist almost instantaneously; it was one of the first times I was surrounded by players that were miles ahead of me. I loved it but I noticed that as I got older, in seventh and then eighth grade, I was back on top and the music wasn’t nearly as challenging.…
