Decent Essays
A couple of months ago I had seen the cutest 2 piece outfit in Victoria Secret's Pink. I had a break coming up and told myself "Shy you have to try this on!" Counting down the minutes like a kid the night before christmas, as soon as I got the go to go on break I ran to that dressing room pronto!
I grabbed a large (cause Victoria Secret only goes up to large) and ran to fitting room. I started to slip my clothes on expecting a night fitted fit, and realized either I had lost 30 pounds or these clothes were fitting me like I was I was 2 sizes bigger!
Baffled at this shocking discovery, I went to go grab a medium and it fit me perfectly.I sat there scratching my head and thought nothing more of it until 2 weeks later I found myself in Charlotte

In the articles, “In Defense of Liz Lemon” by Emily Nussbaum and “The Fashion Industry: Free to Be an Individual” by Hannah Berry, both discuss how women can choose to step out of the typical stereotype on how women should be portrayed and be who they truly want to be. Advertisements are all around us, they have become part of our everyday life. This makes it easier to not pay any attention to them. Since we really are not paying attention to advertisements, it makes the companies who make these ads work harder to get our attention. I have compared two advertisements, although both advertisements are not selling the same, or even similar products, I believe the way they are relaying the message is something they have in common.…

The Captivation of Costuming Struggling with the uncooperative zipper of the frantic actress's dress, I realized I would need a new one in under five minutes before her next scene on stage. I rushed to the overflowing box of supplies and realised we didn’t have any more zippers! On the advice of a fellow costumer, we began to search for a new dress only to find the remaining one was three sizes too big for our actress. Amidst a flurry of humming sewing machines; we were able to take the dress in four inches and have our actress ready just seconds before her next stage entrance. The adrenaline coursing through my veins solidified my passion for costuming even more.…

All I saw were the toys, bright colors, and smiles. It was a wonderful place filled with everything I ever wanted, Barbie dolls, toy trucks, Legos and so on. As I continued to walk through, I was so excited that I was playing over in my head what toys I would play with first. The Barbie dolls first, then the playhouse, and build a house with Legos. And there were so many other kids to play along with too.…

Have you ever experienced the feeling before an important interview which will affect your whole life? It happened to my family on an autumn day in October 2010. My Struggle with Weight and Body Image Although I have always been considered small, my weight has always fluctuated beyond what is considered to be in the normal range of 1 to 2 pounds. The heaviest I have ever been is 123 pounds and I hit that as a freshman in college, unlike most individuals, I was my second heaviest as a freshman in high school. As a three sport athlete I ate whatever I wanted thinking that I could burn it off on the field and being bigger, muscle-wise was better. At the time food was more important that what I looked like and I felt stronger weighing on the higher end of the 110s than the lower end, and accepted the extra body fat that came with my diet and muscle. At some point as a sophomore I started to care more…

When I used to live in Mexico, I couldn’t manage to produce the “Mexican R” sound, but now, after finally mastering it a year before moving to the US, the sound won’t disappear from my accent. One of the things that motivates me to always try my best is a memory of a talent show in which I ended up in my underwear in front the audience; no further explanation needed. Chills run down my body, my vision blurs for a millisecond, I feel the momentum build inside my arm, I regain consciousness and observe my bone sticking out of my forearm; it might have been absurd to step on the ball, fall, and break my arm against the concrete simply to stop a goal, but we still won 10-0!…
