The snow crunched beneath my feet as I walked onto the chairlift the wind howled and I shivered as the snow went down my back, the lift shuddered to life and started climbing up the face of the mountain, near the top I started strapping the Burton snowboard to my feet I turned to the right of me and saw two Swedish skiers who must have been on vacation it was odd because Sweden has a lot of snow so I asked them if they spoke English and they either couldn't hear me or didn't understand me and sat in silence I asked them again in Swedish, “de är spioner”
They replied in a heavy accent “very little english we speak” I nodded to show them I understood. we made it to the top of the lift and got off I looked at the skiers and waved for them to go

After being at school for what seemed like forever, I put on my boots and headed to the ski lift as I looked at the snow glow in the cold February sun. As I waited in line, John was grabbing ice balls the size of my hand, then throwing them at my back. Without anything to throw back him, I felt as helpless as an amputee in a war-zone. Even though Jack was next to me checking my ticket, he did not seem to care that someone was throwing ice balls at me. He didn’t even care to look at my lift ticket which explains how I got on the lift.…

The thing about running is that you hate it until it’s over, at least for me that’s true. Personally, I like running, and it gives me a chance to get out and work towards something. All throughout high school, I’ve run track, and for two years I ran cross-country, both are great sports. The two years I ran cross-country made me wish I ran all four years. I miss them already. Despite the freezing cold snow and the nipping air, we had a lovely Christmas break. As I inspect my child, now grown with children of her own, holding tickets back to their home, longing envelopes me. Hoards of people push past, unaware of my pain, on their own schedules and heading toward different trains, talking and texting on their cell phones. My family boards, time as if in slow-motion, and waves goodbye until I see them again.…

The Plane Ride When I was nine my family started a move from the tranquil suburbs of San Jose, California to the desert city of Windhoek, Namibia, located in southern Africa. My parents were taking myself, along with my younger sister and brother, around the globe because they felt a calling from God to be missionaries. All of our possessions were sold off, including my much beloved toys, until everything we had could fit into eight large suitcases. These suitcases are what we carried to the airport as we prepared for our journey. I felt no small amount of apprehension and excitement in what lay ahead of me in the new country, but an event I would experience in the coming flight would forever change and shape my perspective of how I see the…
