Ne’Shaq was praised by the students of his school for being the best hall monitor ever known to King College Prep High School, but what really set him apart was his photographic memory.
As Ne’Shaq walked into school on the day before Christmas break he noticed that Ms. Harris was looking particularly nice. “Why good morning Ms. Harris,” called Ne’Shaq “how are you today?”
“I’m bloody great today Ne’Shaq” said Ms. Harris. “Are you excited for the break Ne’Shaq?”

“We usually have a thirty minute lunch break for all the students and teachers,” informed Ne’Shaq. “Let’s get onto the tour.”
At the end of the tour Ne’Shaq was taking Marcus to his last class English with Ms. Harris. “Well Marcus this is the end of the tour any questions before we go into class,” asked Ne’Shaq.
“Nope, it shouldn’t be that hard to navigate the school. Thank you Ne’Shaq,” said Marcus.
Ne’Shaq then opened the door to the classroom “Hello Ms. Harris sorry to interupt but this is the new student Marcus, I was taking him on a tour and this is his first class,” said Ne’Shaq.

I have never forgotten where I came from and I am thankful to have an opportunity to play for the team that first fueled my love of the game. I started my NBA career with the Miami Heat in 2003 and it has been an honor to have played with them and help build a winning franchise with three NBA championships. I look back with pride and amazement at all we have accomplished together. I want to express my gratitude to the Arison family, Pat Riley, coach Erik Spoelstra, the coaching staff and the entire Miami Heat organization. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the Miami Heat community and especially #HEATNATION for all of their love and support over the years.…

Many people view Shaq as a great player on the court, and a comedian off of it, but do not know about O’Neal’s tough childhood. Luckily, Shaq had two loving parents including a father who pushed him to do his best at everything he did. With hard work and dedication, Shaq was able to earn a college scholarship, and become the first overall pick in the 1992 NBA draft. While I read Shaq Uncut by Shaquille O’Neal with Jackie Macmullan, I was able to make connections to Shaq’s life on the basketball court, evaluate his father’s way he treated Shaquille, and question as to why Shaq became so good at the sport of basketball.…

Carter focused on how both black and Latino low-socioeconomic (SES) students navigate performance in the classroom juxtapose with peer group interaction. She identified three type of ideological perspective carried out by the youth in her study: (1) the cultural mainstreamers, the noncompliant believers, and the cultural straddlers. For the purpose of my work I focus on Carter’s identification of “cultural straddlers.”…
