Personal Narrative On Huckleberry Finn

Taboo Words I grew up in a family that never talked about what was under the curtain, and in the summer of my eighth grade year, I ran away. Now when you picture running away what is it that you see? Perhaps you think of Into the Wild, Chris McCandless whom traveled for self exploration and adventure! Or you think of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Finn running away heroically for his friend! Unfortunately, you would never find my 24 hour “escape” written out in famous story books told for generations. There was no adventure, no underlying heroism, just me and a bag of socks on my back in the middle of the woods, and they were woods that I could see an end to. I could just imagine them drinking afterwards telling their comrades about the situation. High fives would surely have gone around as their fellow officers congratulated them on their bravery. In reality, they had been waved them down on the side of the road, their black on black on black truck could not have fooled anyone. They questioned constantly, as we rode the short distance back to my home. Stuck in my ways, I remained reticent. Oh, how my father would be proud.
