Personal Narrative On Digging Turtles

Improved Essays
Just like that I had a turtle. I was having a sleepover with Jerzey and Izzy two days before 6th grade started. We came to the lake in the afternoon ready to swim and ride on the pontoon. It was a great day to swim. The day was sunny and the water was perfect temperature. Jerzey didn’t want to go in the water at first because she saw fish in the area we were swimming in. If it weren’t for her, we would have never seen anything. When I was about to jump off the dock, I heard, “TURTLES!”. I was so excited, I sprinted to shore. I wasn’t sure if she was tricking me or not, but when I got there two baby snapping turtles were waddling on the sand. When Jerzey realized they were snapping turtles, she was more cautious of them, maybe a little scared. Eventually, she got used to them. I caught one turtle and Izzy caught the other. We put them in separate buckets so they had room to swim. …show more content…
and the other Sandy. Jerzey and Izzy both wanted to let them loose and recatch the turtles. It wasn’t the best idea because Sandy got loose. Nobody was able to keep Speedy Jr. , but I had a chance. I brought the turtle home, but I still hadn’t asked. If they said no, I could let him loose somewhere. I asked my mom if I could keep him, she said to ask dad. I asked dad he said to ask mom. The term Puritans was first used to describe anyone who wanted to be “pure” of the Church of England and their practices (Curtis). Since these people had changed their religious ideas to become pure of the Church of England they did not quite think much like the Native Americans in the Americas. The views vary differently compared to “The Earth on the Turtle's Back”, “When Grizzlies Walked Upright”, and “The Navajo Origin Legend.” To the Native Americans the myth,“The Earth on the Turtle's Back,” was their explanation of how the Earth was created. The Puritans on the other hand, believed that God said,” It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed “(King James Bible, Exodus 31:17).…

Managing to break free from the first set of waves, I pushed forth into the next set of unceasing five foot waves. With legs bent upwards and arms plunging one after the other in a Michael Phelps mentality to finish the race with swift strokes, I kept my body centered in the middle of my seven foot board just like my grandpa positioned me to do so. With a split second to pause and raise my head to look over an oncoming wave, I made out the face of my grandpa, looking back at me from his own board and grinning at the look of my determined face to get out into the line-up. Eminent to the gray-haired “townies” who create their own spindrift from whipping the tail of their boards high in the air, is a homely beach, Rockpiles.…
