James Hamby - English9A - Family Narrative

So, my Family went on a trip this summer to the British Virgin Islands. We had to drive to Tulsa Oklahoma which didn’t take that long but the airplanes took forever. When we got to Tulsa, we signed in with the airlines and waited to be put on the plane which was at about 4:00 AM. When we got on the plane it was a small plane that was going to Atlanta Georgia for a place to get onto another airplane. We waited there and ate breakfast because we didn’t get to eat and it was breakfast time by the time we got there. We waited for about 3 hours to get onto the next plane which was going from Atlanta Georgia to San Juan Puerto Rico. That flight was about 3 to 4 hours. That is the airplane that bothered

The guy next to me said his name was Vincent. Vincent was always laughing like I said at snaps and videos he got. I was really hoping his phone would die and it did so he finally watched a movie. My parents, sister, and my brother were all asleep and I don’t know how they were because I can never sleep on an airplane even if I try. The plane ended after what seemed like an eternity and we got off and had to wait another little bit to get all of our luggage and get on one more airplane which took about 30 minutes for the last airplane. I was so glad I would not have to be on another airplane for 9 days because they really bother me sometimes like the 3 to 4-hour flight did. We got to the BVI and took a charter bus to where we would get our boat. We did have to leave the boat in that spot at night because we rented it and when you rent a boat they won’t let you sail or move and night because there are boats everywhere. We went to sleep and the next day the rest of the family that was coming got on the boat. It was my two-sister-in-law’s named Hannah and Moriah and my two brothers named Josh and Geoffrey. Geoffrey was married to Moriah and has been for about 4 years and Josh was married to …show more content…
My mom had to dig in his foot skin to get it out and his Wife had the same thing in her foot. When they got done with their foot, they went to see the photos on Hannah’s phone and the phone was ruined. Even inside of a water bag and a life proof case the water still got to it. The phone was dripping water and everything. So, we lost a GoPro and a phone the same day which is pretty sad. We only had an old GoPro and an old DSLR camera and an old waterproof camera to take videos and photos. That night, when we were asleep the waves changed and our boat hit another person’s boat. It sort of what we though scratched out boat and were sort of nervous at the end of the trip when we had to bring the boat back but no the guy said that it was already there and that we didn’t do any damage to the boat. That made us feel a lot better. But I as the one that heard it and felt it because it was right on the side of mine and Joe’s cabin. At first my brother didn’t really believe me until I acted dramatic. He then looked out the window and said “Oh Crap” and ran to get my dad. My dad was so scared that he ran outside and up the stairs as fast as he could and almost slipped and fell on the stairs. Every move we made my dad woke up sort of

Anna Maria Island is a special place to visit in Florida. This beautiful barrier island is located in Manatee County on Florida's west coast in the Gulf of Mexico. I've been there three times to stay at my Papa and Grandma's condo on family vacations, and I am fond of it there! When we visit, we see beautiful palm trees and nature, and we go to many wonderful places on the island. One place I really love is Fire and Stone Pizza!…

At the age of 21, having her first daughter, my mother did not have an education beyond the sixth grade. Three years later we were abandoned by my fleeing father to fend for ourselves in a small and rural community. Growing up on the small Caribbean island of St. Lucia, my mother struggled for many years to support her small family. Four years ago, we made our way to Florida, along with my younger sister, where we resided with friends. Although I graduated high school in St. Lucia, my mother did not have the finances to aid with my college expenses, thus she insisted that I again attend high school to provide her with ample time to obtain some form of income.…

As I peered down the bluff, I saw the magnificent black-and-white beasts breach the water of the Salish Sea. The L-pod resident orcas were gliding past Henry Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. This sight reminded me why I was in the San Juans in the first place: to appreciate nature and do my part to protect it. I finally got to experience these natural beauties that I had heard oh-so-much about from the locals. The sea breeze flowed onto my face, and I appreciated the wonder of it all.…

Although after some time I got tired and fell asleep. Not much happened during that time except for the part that I was sleeping and it was raining.…

Andrew Just last year, Dylan and I traveled to Haiti on a missions trip. As you may know, it's one of the poorest countries in the world. When we were beginning our descent on the airplane, I thought about how little roads and how poor the housing was. We drove through chaotic roads and rubble filled alleys, until we reached the orphanage. New Life Children’s Home is a safe haven for kids who lived in the mountains a couple miles north.…

In the islands of Hawaii, Hawaiians depended on the land, scavenging for resources to gather in order to survive. Hawaiians became accustomed to the landscape and began to learn how to farm to grow local plants, how to hunt, and fish from the local wildlife. Now days most “Hawaiians” spend time at home on their ipad or in front of their TV or computer screens. Even though there's the ocean to swim in, and the mountains to hike and relax, people still avoid this. Caught up in the fast pace lifestyle of businesses, they forget what's really out there.…

Our vacation to Mackinac Island started out normal, but the rest of the trip… not so much. My brother and I were having a nice picnic by arch rock, eating grilled cheese sandwiches, when I noticed a strange shimmer in the unique formation. “Does Arch Rock look like it’s shimmering to you?” I asked my brother, wondering if I was hallucinating. He glanced over at the formation and a look of curiosity quickly spread across his face, answering my question.…
